Let us not forget

Let us not forget what happened on this day, 65 years ago, D-day, the Normandy invasion. I won't go into a long droning diatribe of the history of that day. You can go read about it yourself if you want. I think we should all just remember the sacrifice of so many back then just so we could have our dwindling freedom today.

The Normandy invasion was only the beginning. Many more people died in the days to follow as the allies finally broke out of the beach head, pushed into the hedgerow country of France and finally on into Germany.

We all get wrapped up in our so called problems today. It's hard to imagine what was going through the minds of the guys crossing the English Channel in boats or the paratroopers jumping into the black French countryside on this day long ago. Their bravery and sacrifice is simply awesome.

  1. Many were just young boys, scared, nauseated, but stepping up to protect their country, their families and families like theirs across the ocean. I doubt most had lofty thoughts in their heads at the time of the invasion. They probably had no idea how important and historic their actions and sacrifices would be. God bless them every one.
