How Does She Know?

Our sweet puppy, Penny, gets car sick. The minute she gets in the car, she starts drooling and before we get to our destination, she is throwing up, poor thing. Therefore, she wants no part of traveling. She has a travel crate in her room and anytime we get ready to go somewhere, she gets in the crate. I think she is hiding so we will forget about her and dismiss any notion of taking her on the car ride.

Yesterday, sweet wifey and I both had things to do and errands to run. We ate breakfast and watched a couple of TV shows. We were not even getting ready to leave but we both noticed that Penny had gotten in her crate. Somehow she knew we were going somewhere, even before we hinted at getting ready. Sweet wifey and I were both amazed. How could she have possibly known? And yet she did.

We have had other dogs too that displayed this intuition. One of our dogs was particularly in tune to bad weather and afraid of storms. She would become uneasy long before the storm came.

Others seem to know when something is wrong with one of us and pay extra attention to us during that time.

I don't know how they know these things, but they just do and I find it truly amazing.

I wonder if any of the rest of you have had similar experiences with your 4 footed friends?

  1. We have a Jack Russell and she just seems intelligent when it comes to going out or going away. Last year my wife had some heart problems and that doggie just behaved if she knew some was very wrong......just amazing.

  3. It is truly amazing. They have this special extra sense or something. Penny is truly one of the sweetest dogs we've ever had.

Droopy, what a nice thing to have a visitor here from Holland. Don't be a stranger.
