Life on Mars?

According to NASA, there is evidence of life on Mars. A recent mission to the Red Planet has found evidence of  "a form of pond scum - the building blocks of life as we know it". Man oh man, seems like wherever we go, we're always finding Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid......pond scum.

I have read a lot and watched documentary after documentary discussing the possibility of life on other worlds. It seem like the scientists are just giddy over the possibility of life on the red planet, almost like they are grasping at any straw to find evidence. I can't help but think that in the end the evidence might be a little skewed. They want to find life so badly that they may misconstrue the evidence.......kinda like those who want to believe in man made globull warming.

I got a feeling that Mars is probably lifeless. I got a feeling that the moons of Jupiter and Saturn are also lifeless. They are too far away from the sun and cold to support life. I do however agree with Stephen Hawking (world renown physicist and cosmologist) who thinks there is probably other life somewhere in the universe. Hawking posits that with billions of galaxies like our Milky Way, with each containing billion and billion of stars and planets, that the likelihood  of a star-planet system similar to our own is very high. The problem is that other stars are so far away that unless we figure out a way to go faster than light, it is not likely we will find the answers.

Besides, Dr. Hawking seems to think that if there is other intelligent life out there headed our way, their intentions may not be honorable (war of the worlds come true).

It's fun to think about this stuff, I'll admit. I'm a star gazer and find myself looking into the night sky, wondering what else is out there, and realizing how small we really are.....COOL!

  1. I heard Hawking talk about the possible alien life out there and their reasons for possibly visiting Earth, it didn't sound like something we would wish for. He believes they may have depleted their own planets and would be coming here to take from us. "The Day The Earth Stood Still" comes to mind.
