Field Day 2010

The Decatur County Amateur Radio Club is holding field day at the time of this post. They are located in downtown Parsons, TN. Field Day is an annual event sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). The purpose is an emergency preparedness exercise where ham operators take, tents, radios, generators, and makeshift antennas, and set up and operate in a manner similar to that during a large scale emergency. It is also a social time where ham operators and fambilies and friends get together, eat, and get to know one another better. This is the very first field day by the fledgling Decatur County club. I am optimistic there will be many more.
Serious operators in the serious operating position.
Food and relaxation for all.
There are always plenty of tall tales and war stories to go round.
"Come in, Cairo!"
The main ingredient is FUN!

  1. Looks like they had a good sized crowd for the very FIRST field day for the Decatur County Amateur Radio Club.
