Egypt....What to Do?

I have been watching the news every day coming out of Egypt. It seems like the whole thing is coming unraveled exponentially, like a runaway train. I don't think Mubarak will last. He will go and there will be a void. I am afraid that the void will be filled by a bunch of crackpot Muslims much like happened in Iran when the Shah was deposed. It would be great if Mubarak ended up being replaced by a SECULAR democratic government, but I don't think that is in the cards.

For years we have looked the other way when it came to Mubarak. He was a dictator but he was OUR dictator. We liked him because he brought stability to the region and was at peace with Israel. Never mind he stole from his own people.

What can we do to make things better? At this point I am not sure that there is anything we can do. In fact I'll even give the president a pass on this. I am afraid he is powerless. The time for action unfortunately has long passed. I guess we can blame administrations all the way back to 1981 when Anwar Sadat was assassinated. Of course we had to support Mubarak in the beginning, but we should have pressured him right away for human rights and democratic reform and not waited until years later when things are finally boiling over. We didn't learn from Iran. We didn't learn from Egypt. Who's next? Will Saudi Arabia be the next to go? What about Jordan?

Whatever happens I don't think it is going to be good for our so called friend, Israel. They will be surrounded by enemies with not a single "moderate" Arab state to be found. It's not going to be good for us either as our Arab allies are replaced by terror states and our oil prices soar through the roof.

The stage is being set for yet another Arab-Israeli war. Iran is poised to strike. Syria has always been poised to strike. The new terror nation of Egypt will be ready to wipe Israel off the map. Will we come to their defense? Will we be willing to fight an all out war against the Arab nations? Is this the great test for Hussein Obama that Joe Biden warned us about during the 2008 presidential campaign?

This is really scary stuff, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it happens to be the light of an oncoming train.

Whining Over Jeff Fisher

Well, it's really funny to read some of the comments mainly on Facebook about the former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher.

There was a plethora of comments ranging from "good riddance" to "OMG I will have to find another team. I am a Jeff Fisher fan".

Well, maybe I am a different kinda football fan but I don't ever remember  being a fan of a football team simply because of the coach. I'll continue to be a Titans fan simply because they are the home team. The head coach will not matter. I was fine with Fisher and I'll be fine with someone else.

I guess some of the people are attached to Fisher simply because of his longevity. Others just don't like change. Whatever your feelings you have to admit that Fisher's tenure with the Titans was the exception rather than the rule. Most of the time coaches are like players. They come and go rather quickly.

I have also been amused by the comments vilifying Titans owner, Bud Adams. At the end of the day though, if the Titans win, Bud Adams will be a genius, if not he will be a low life SOB. It's that simple. By the middle of next season, Fisher's departure will have been forgotten and most people will be looking at the remaining schedule and cogitating on playoff possibilities.....as usual.

I heard one girl saying "poor Jeff Fisher". Gimme a break. Jeff Fisher has made millions of dollars doing what he has been doing. Poor my ass! He'll have no trouble getting another gig if he wants one.

My least favorite month arrives tomorrow. February.....it's still winter, it's still cold and dreary, football is over after next Sunday.....bah humbug. By the middle of the month I'll be saying, "Are you ready for spring? Are you ready for some football?"

25 Years Ago Today

Every now and then something happens and years later you remember exactly what you were doing that very day, that very moment. One of those moments for me was the Challenger disaster, January 28, 1986. Today marks the anniversary of that fateful and terrible day.

I was working part time in a psychiatric clinic in Trenton, Tennessee, interviewing patients, prescribing and refilling medications. It was a rather routine day. A couple of the staff came in and said that the Challenger had blown up. I remember there was silence and shock, but there was still work to be done. We were all locked into the routine so we could not at that moment find out many of the details. Finally lunch came and I hurried home. It was all over the TV and of course there was already speculation over what had happened....some things never change. I remember the same sickening picture of the fireball and the solid rocket boosters heading off in different directions. We saw it over and over again.

It was one of those times when we lose our innocence. So far we had never lost anyone in space (I have not forgotten about Apollo 1). I guess we thought we were too good and too big to fail. Suddenly we were all reminded that riding tons of liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen at several times the speed of sound was really DANGEROUS! There is indeed no room for error.

These men and women in our space program really know the meaning of dedication and courage. I remember how good we felt during the first Mercury flights, the thrill of the first spacewalk, the first Gemini rendezvous and docking, the Apollo 8 Christmas Eve Broadcast, Neil Armstrong's "one small step", the heroic rescue and return of Apollo 13, and on and on.

Seems to me that if our politicians found just a fraction of the courage and spirit of these astronauts that we would not be apologizing to the world and under the thumb of red China.

Rest in peace Challenger astronauts. A grateful nation will not forget your sacrifice!

Privatizing Medicare? How Far Will They Get?

Here's news from the Republicans about privatizing Medicare. Instead of Medicare they would offer a fixed payment and allow recipients to buy private plans on the free market.

Of course the same old hacks are already spewing the same old BS. This from New York senator CHUCK YOU Schumer: "Anyone who doesn't think privatization will mean severe cuts to Medicare benefits, I have a bridge I'd like to sell them......Privatization will make the cuts previously proposed by either party look tame."

They're not gonna give it up without a fight, but then again it's not about health care. It never was about health care. It is about CONTROLLING YOUR LIFE. What better way to have control over you than to control your health. The regulators in Warshington will fight tooth and nail before they give up such power. Let YOU decide upon your health plan? Perish the thought! You're a dumbass! The gubment knows what is best for you!

Of course this is only a beginning and it may be so distorted and demonized by the regulators that it will ultimately fail, but the sad fact is that Medicare is broke and getting broker. Something has got to give, one way or another. It will be interesting.

He's BACK!

According to the Illinois Supreme Court, Rahm Emanuel is back on the ballot for Chicago mayor! Boy can I spot a skunk or what? Wouldn't you like to know about all the bribes and shady deals that went down to make that happen?

Fisher Leaving the Titans

This just in! Head coach Jeff Fisher will be leaving the Titans. The finer details of this have so far not been released and at this time it was not stated whether this was a resignation or a firing.

With the departure of Vince Young at the QB position and Fisher gone I suppose things may look very different in Nashville next season. Hopefully for the better?

Go HERE to read all about it.

And Nero Fiddled While Rome Burned

Well, here's more good news. The economy is BAD and now we hear that Social Security will be running in the RED. It will continue to run a deficit until it runs out of money in 2037. Another broken promise and another failure by big gubment.

I don't remember hearing anything about this from the chosen one in the State of the Titanic Union address the other night. Seems as if we hear very little of it from any of the people in congress. George Bush tried to work on it but was shouted down and demonized. Let's face it. Sooner or later if something definitive is not done, Social Security will simply cease to exist by default. Yet it seems that the Warshington regulators are content to just to fiddle around and ignore the problem, kicking the can to the next generation of politicians. The article finishes up with this:

Social Security supporters are adamant that the program will be repaid, just as the U.S. government repays others who invest in U.S. Treasury bonds.

"Its' an IOU that is backed by Treasury bonds and the faith and credit of the United States government," said Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. "It is the same faith and credit that enables us to borrow from rich people and from China and from other countries. As you well know, in the history of this country, the United States has never defaulted on one penny owed to a creditor."

Boy oh boy! With our debt at 14 trillion and increasing exponentially, doesn't that make you feel really great about the future of Social Security?

It is my understanding that Medicare is in even worse shape.

Woe is me!

I Am a LIAR and Proud of it!

Alas! Another annoyance call from the RNC begging for money! I told the woman AGAIN that I had asked repeatedly to be removed from their call list. I told her I was a DIMOCRAT and she was really pissing me off!

Yes! I LIED! Hell I'm just following the lead of the POTUS!

The State of the Titanic - er uh, the UNION!

Well, I dunno if y'all bothered to watch the Liar in Chief deliver the State of the Titanic Union address last night. If you missed it, you missed those recurring waves of nausea and disgust. I guess the thing that pissed me off the most was when Hussein declared there should be a "freeze on spending". Oh sure, that's easy for him to say after he's already created over 3 trillion in new debt over the last 2 years. That would be kinda like me going out and buying a new Ferrari and a new Yacht and then declaring to sweet Wifey that I was going to put a freeze on spending. I really got irritated too when he demonized banks and oil companies and praised all those GREEN ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES that do not work and that people do not want as we face steady increases in oil prices and increasing dependence on foreign oil.

Well the Teaparty Express has a real opportunity to change things for the good. Notice I did not say REPUBLICANS. No, the Republicans are unfortunately more interested in finding common ground with the socialists than they are in making tough decisions and doing the right thing to save America.

I thought Michele Bachmann gave an excellent response. Click the video below to watch the whole thing. If you're sick of Hussein Obama and the direction he's taking this country, you'll enjoy this.

By the way, the best thing about the whole speech was that I did not have to watch Nancy Pelosi sitting up there clapping the whole time.

Obama Disqualified!

I'm not afraid to admit it. I am a BIRTHER. I have never believed that Obama was born in the US. No, common sense tells me he was born in Kenya. The common sense thing for him to do would be to provide that elusive birth certificate.

For a short time the governor of Hawaii was going to produce it and now suddenly he can't find it. The logical conclusion is that there is no certificate to be found.

Well I just read that Arizona is fixing to pass a law requiring every presidential candidate to provide a birth certificate, among other things, before they can be considered a legitimate candidate. According to the article, other states are considering similar laws. Ah yes, the states are SOVEREIGN entities that is until they get in the way of something the tyrannical federal gubment wants to do like force people to buy health insurance or offer an illegitimate candidate for president.

Mind you I'm not looking for anything substantial to come out of all this. The federal gubment will simply look the other way and do what it wants to do, the states and the PEOPLE be damned, but it is cool to dream.

If by some miracle Obama was suddenly disqualified as president, would that make all the expensive nonsense he has signed into law null and void? Wouldn't that be juicy?

By the way. not only am I a BIRTHER, I also believe that Obama is a Muslim, always has been, and always will be. Of course he has declared he is a Christian, but he has lied pretty much about everything since he has been in office, why should I believe him on that one?

Yes I know. I am being UNCIVIL! Shame on me for making such incendiary remarks. Next time some loon shoots somebody in the head, it will be my fault!

Old People Should Be Put in Jail

Here’s the way it should be:
Let’s put the seniors in jail and the criminals in nursing homes.
This would correct two things in one motion:
Seniors would have access to showers, hobbies and walks.
They would receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs, etc.
They would receive money instead of having to pay it out.
They would have constant video monitoring, so they would be helped instantly… If they fell or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes.

Meet the Next Chicago Mayor

Well, Rahm Emanuel, Hussein Obama's former chief of staff, has supposedly been disqualified as a candidate for mayor of Chicago. The law says he has to have lived in Chicago for 1 year.........he has not.

Of course he has appealed all this to the Illinois supreme court. I predict there will be plenty of bribes and greased palms and in the end, Rahm will be the next Chicago mayor. When have these creeps ever had any respect for the law?

I hope I'm wrong. Just look at this guy. He's got the kind of face you just wanna draw back and smack the sh*t out of!

Oh, sorry, I'm not being civil.

Some Things Defy Explanation

I don't really know what this is but for some reason it makes me think of Dimocrats.

This  just might make your day a little brighter!!

Those of you, who worry about democrats versus republicans -- relax, here is our real problem.

In a Purdue University classroom, they were discussing the qualifications to be President of the United  States.  It was pretty simple. The candidate must be a  natural born citizen of at least 35 years of age.  However, one girl in the class immediately started in on how  unfair was the requirement to be a natural born citizen.

WARNING! I'm Voting for Obama!

Yesterday the RNC called the house (AGAIN) begging for money. I told them to take me off their call list. I told them I was a DIMOCRAT.

I'm of course not and never will be a DIMOCRAT, neither do I claim to be a Republican. I will give notice to the RNC right now that if they give me one of the same old tired retreads (Gingrich, Romney, Huckabee (gag-puke)). That I WILL PULL THE LEVER FOR HUSSEIN OBAMA!

Might as well, a vote for a third party candidate is a wasted vote anyway. I'd rather vote for a communist than a RINO! And if I do contribute any money, it will be to an individual candidate. Not another cent to the RNC! These establishment idiots had better wise up. There are a whole bunch of people out there that feel the same way I do. Don't mess with the GROUCH!

Blackie O

Comedienne Joan Rivers admitted to Howard Stern that she had a joke in her repertoire that referred to the hideous and gorilla-like Michelle Obama as "Blackie O" (a parallel reference to Jackie O. (Jackie Kennedy Onassis)).

In the interview with Stern, Rivers claimed it was meant as a compliment.

Even Stern and his sidekick Robyn Quivers questioned whether Rivers' joke was racially motivated.

IDIOTS! Of course it was racially motivated! Last time I looked, Michell is black and in her mind she is convinced that she was the heir apparent to the throne of Camelot. She's way better than the rest of us.

If some conservative had said this, it would be front page news, all over CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, and the Warshington Post...........but I found a single reference to this sifting through Drudge.

At least Joan is an equal opportunity insulter. Just a few days ago she called Sarah Palin a Nazi.

Anyway, I thought the joke was FUNNY!

The Optimist

An optimist is described as a person who jumps off the Empire State Building. 50 floors down he is heard to say, "So far! So good!"

State Bankruptcy, Say So Long to Your Pension and Your Investments

Here's some really scary stuff. There is now talk of providing a way for individual states to declare bankruptcy. States are barred from seeking bankruptcy protection in federal bankruptcy court. Since states are considered sovereign, there are many "constitutional hurdles" involved in trying to make this happen.

But the proponents say that bankruptcy may be the only way out because it would allow states "alter its contractual promises to retirees, which are often protected by state constitutions". Translated this would allow the state gubments to break promises made to former public employees. It seems as if it is these enormous pension funds that are sucking the life out of many state budgets and taking away from other "essential" services provided by the states. The funds have become so huge that there is no way left to fund them and no way out. Hey guess what! Remember that pension you were depending on? So sorry!

Here's how it might work:

".....it was possible to envision how bankruptcy for states might work by looking at the existing law for local governments.

Called Chapter 9, it gives distressed municipalities a period of debt-collection relief, which they can use to restructure their obligations with the help of a bankruptcy judge.

Unfunded pensions become unsecured debts in municipal bankruptcy and MAY BE REDUCED. And the law makes it easier for a bankrupt city to tear up its labor contracts than for a bankrupt company, said James E. Spiotto, head of the bankruptcy practice at Chapman & Cutler in Chicago.

The biggest surprise may await the holders of a state’s general obligation bonds. Though widely considered the strongest credit of any government, they can be treated as unsecured credits, SUBJECT TO REDUCTION, under Chapter 9."

Well now I feel KINDA sorry for all those folks that may end up losing some of their pensions..........well what did you expect? You put your eggs in the basket of the gubment and your union and depended on THEM and not YOURSELF to provide for you. And now they may pull the plug on you. As I have heard Rush Limbaugh say many times, "nobody cares more about you that YOU." Of course when the rug is finally pulled out from under all these people there will be rioting in the streets in a manner that puts the European riots to shame. Yes, this is really scary stuff.

According to this article, the idea of a "state bankruptcy" would have a destabilizing effect on the state municipal bond market sending bond holders to the back of the line as unsecured creditors. Not a good thing either. This affects investors like ME who own municipal bonds (only a small amount, thankfully).........hell fire! If you loan people money, you expect them to pay it back! Well, not in this day and time I guess.

I wonder if congress figures out a way to clear all the "constitutional hurdles" and allows states to declare some form of bankruptcy, will the sovereignty of the states be somehow affected, and will the once sovereign states melt into the bankrupt mire of a gigantic central gubment and be completely beholding to the central power and its tyrannical leader? Anytime you start circumventing the constitution, bad things happen especially where states rights are concerned.

Yes, my friends, these are frightening times. These troubles are all caused by gubment making promises it cannot keep and spending like a drunken sailor and living way beyond its means. And they hold a gun to each of our heads demanding more and more!

Boy I hate more than anything to quote Jeremiah Wright, but, "America's chickens are coming home to roost!"

Silence is Golden

I was just reading this article about SMART PHONES FOSTERING DUMB HABITS AMONG PEDESTRIANS. The author laments the absolute obsession people have with their electronic devices to the point that they actually step off the curb in front of cars and crash their baby strollers into each other. This article centered on pedestrians, but I was thinking the same thing applies to people operating motor vehicles.

What did we ever do before cell phones? How did we ever get along? As I recall it seems that I, for one, managed just fine. I remember way back before cell phones and interstates when driving to Nashville was a day long undertaking (a pleasant one I might add). I've always enjoyed driving along in the country, with the window down, quiet, alone with my thoughts, enjoying the scenery, and enjoying the day. If I ever did have to make a phone call I had to find a phone booth, but I betcha I could count on one hand the number of times I ever pulled off the road to use the phone. It was never so important that I could not wait until I reached my destination.

I have nothing against cell phones. I have one on my side all the time. I am easily findable by people that need to find me, but most of the time the phone is silent with that little light blinking on top which tells me that a cell tower somewhere is hearing me.

If tomorrow all the cell phones, pagers, and mobile devices just went away, I'd be just fine, but I'm not so sure about the rest of humanity.

Obama Gets His Wish

Dear leader, Hussein Obama, has always wished for the decline of the United States. He has criticized and apologized for this country on the world stage. He has sucked up to dictators, Amadinejad, Chavez, Castro, Hu. He has done his dead level best to destroy the private sector, by design I believe and introduce us to the socialist/communist way. He has bowed down to terrorists and Islamists and now Red China is assuming status of #1 world power. Hussein says we should "show humility" and not stand in their way.

Well, all I can say is Hussein must be thrilled to the marrow! It's what he has wanted all along..........the US a second rate power. How's that hope and change working out for you?

One Quick Thought on Spending Cuts - a Clarification

In my previous post I mentioned that the GOP House had proposed 2.5 trillion in cuts. I'd like to clarify that this is supposed to take place over 10 years. Considering things like bailouts, the porkulous bill, and Obamacare, it looks like it's gonna take about 10 years just to undo what Hussein Obama has accomplished in 2 years......just sayin'.

Now if the congress is actually successful in cutting 2.5 trillion, we'll have to be certain that the next president, Dimocrat or Republican does not come on board with 3 or 4 agenda items that cost a trillion dollars apiece.......just sayin'.

Let's All be Good Nazis

I just read that the GOP House had listed 2.5 trillion dollars in cuts. Some turkey necks on the top of the list include:

Amtrak subsidies, Legal Services Corporation, National Endowment for the Arts, elimination of $900 billion to fund Obamacare, removal of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from federal control, and reduction of the federal workforce by 15 percent by attrition.Go read the article. There's lotsa other good stuff.

Boy this sounds like good news doesn't it? But, let's not get too excited yet. Let's hope that the GOP sticks to their guns and is persistent in getting most of this stuff through. Sweet Wifey was commenting yesterday that so far we had not see the riots and civil unrest that we have seen  in Europe. I simply told her that this is because  we have had just TALK of cuts and of course TALK is cheap. If the reality of honest to goodness cuts finally does arrive, no doubt we'll see rioting in the streets. As soon as the "hand out" crowd finds out that they will no longer have their asses wiped for "free" at taxpayer expense, the weeping and wailing will begin in earnest.

Of course we on the right will all be Nazified! Steve Cohen (Dimocrat) Tennessee has already started.

I'd like to add to the chopping block, the National Education Association, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the FCC. I can think of many more.

Advice on Picking Up Chicks

Well if I were a single guy, looking to pick up chicks, or if I were just a cheating douche-bag, I would have the ultimate weapon. I might be a douche-bag, but I am a faithful douche-bag.

In the picture, you'll see my delightful, bicentennial coin holder. I had one of these years ago, given to me by a drug salesman. That one eventually fell apart. I found the one in the picture at an online antique store.

These things are pretty neat. They hold your quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, 5 of each in fact and your change doesn't rattle around in your pocket.

What is even neater is the response I've gotten from girls in convenience stores etc. when they see the thing.

"Oh! that's so cool!"
"Oh! That's the neatest thing!"
"Oh! Where did you get it?"
"Oh! Can I get one?"
"Oh! Look! Hey Sherry! Come look at this!"

Bwaa Haa Haa! If I had been on the prowl I had the ultimate ice breaker. I thought I was going to have to wrestle the thing away from a fat chick in the Pilot Travel Center a few weeks ago.

Now I will have to caution all you lonely dudes. These things are extremely rare. I got the last one the antique store had. Good luck on finding another, but if you do it will open the door to lots of chicks!

You really need to warn any men in your family to be very careful out there!
Here is a scam that I have recently discovered!
Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc.  This is the first warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it.

A 'heads up' for those men who may be regulars at Lowe's, Home Depot, Costco, or even Wal-Mart.  This one caught me totally by surprise.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you. Here's how the scam works:

Two nice-looking, college aged girls will come over to your car or truck as you are packing your shopping into your vehicle.  They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy tops. (It's impossible not to look).  When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No,' but instead ask for a ride to McDonalds.  You agree and they climb into the vehicle.

On the way, they start undressing.  Then one of them starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen May 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, & 28th.  Also June 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th & 23rd, three times last Monday and very likely again this upcoming weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful.

What a horrible way to take advantage of us older men.  Warn your friends to be vigilant.

Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each.  I found even cheaper ones for $1.00 at the Dollar Tree and bought them out in three of their stores. Also, you never will get to eat at McDonalds. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth from Lowe's, to Home Depot, to Costco, Etc.

So please, send this on to all the older men that you know and warn them to be on the lookout for this scam.

(The best times are just before lunch and around 4:30 in the afternoon).

Underdog Weekend

I just have to wonder how many times the 6th seed in both the AFC and the NFC defeat the 1st seed teams in their respective conferences. Well it happened this weekend. My adopted team, the Green Bay Packers put a whoopin on the Atlanta Dirty Birds last night, 48 to 21. This means that the pack will face the Chicago Bears in Chicago next weekend. I feel pretty good about this game. I think Green Bay has a better team than Chicago. We shall see.

This afternoon in a much closer game, the New York Jets defeated the New England Patriots 28-21. It was kinda fun to watch and listen all week to the trash talking coming mainly from the Jets toward the Patriots. Unlike most of the sportscasters, this behavior doesn't upset me. In fact I am all in favor or brutal hits, trash talking, end zone celebrations, taunting, and general madness and mayhem. After all, I have never really cared if people get their feelings hurt.

At least the Jets were able to back up their trash talking and bombastic behavior with a win. I guess they would have looked kinda goofy had they lost. The bad news for the Jets is they have to play the Steelers next weekend. I am not nearly as optimistic for the Jets chances against the terrible towels.

For a change I do not have to work next Sundee so I can kick back and relax and just watch the fun. I am predicting the Packers and the Steelers in the Super Bowl.

Hold on to the Ones You Love

Tonight our community suffered a tragic loss. A friend of mine and also a colleague was taken suddenly in death. She was only 40 years old. Hold on to the ones you love and don't take a single moment for granted. Live each day as if it were your last.

Poor Puppies

Here's an absolutely horrible story from Long Island, New York. Officials recovered 15 dogs from a house that I would classify as a hell hole. The dogs were found with their mouths taped shut. They could not eat or drink and they could barely breathe. They were simply left to dehydrate and die.  The trembling animals were matted with feces and urine and were scattered among the rotting corpses of other dead animals. There was 2 feet of trash on the floor.

The decaying remains of 28 other animals were also discovered, including dogs, cats, ferrets,  and parrots.

This cruelty was evidently carried out by a mother/daughter combination that lived in the house. The mother, 54, was reported to be some kind of secretary and the daughter, 24, was a nursing home aid. Ugh, makes me wonder what kind of care the old folks in the nursing home were receiving.

Anyway, the two have been charged with three felony counts of animal cruelty. It is a damned good thing I am not going to be the judge in this case. What possesses people to treat helpless and innocent creatures in such a way? I can't help but think there is an especially hot place in hell for folks like this. I told my sweet Penny not to get online and look at those horrible pictures.

Kiss My Butt!

It is about 50 years overdue, but finally a politician of prominence has told the NAACP to "kiss my butt"! Maine governor, Paul LePage told them just that. He turned down an invitation by the NAACP to attend Martin Luther King ceremonies.

LePage declared that the NAACP was nothing more than a "special interest" and he was not going to be "held hostage" by a special interest.

Yay! The truth for a change! The NAACP is nothing more than a special interest dedicated to forwarding liberal agendas and the Dimocrat party. They have done nothing for black people other than create a race dependent on big gubment.

LePage has a black son and he also said if the NAACP chose to play the race card, they could come and he'd let his son "talk to them".

You go governor!

Hey, NAACP! Kiss my butt! Damn that felt good!

I Prefer to Stay Away from Numerical Predictions

Well the pundits are turning flips because Gabby (Gabrielle Giffords) opened her eyes! As the messiah broke the news to the crowd, cheers erupted and there were tears!

Hmmmm.....as I stated in my first post on this subject, I am not that excited nor optimistic. As I recall, Terry Schiavo, (remember her?) had eye movements, yet she spent her life after her brain injury in a vegetative state kept alive by tubes and machines......sigh! I'm not trying to be an old poop, although some of my friends will tell you that I AM an old poop, rather I'm just being a realist.

I heard that her neurosurgeon declared that there was a 101 percent chance that she would survive. This is a slippery slope if you ask me. Too many things can go wrong and unexpected complications can occur even in the best of hands. I have never promised a patient a 100 percent chance of anything. If this woman should suddenly up and die, then this neurosurgeon will look like a pompous ass. Actually I have known several neurosurgeons that ARE pompous asses.......I could even name names!

I have found it wise to never deal in numeric percentages. "How long do I have to live, Doc?" If we're talking terminal illness, I will simply give them some facts and figures about survival rates out of the medical books, but I also explain that I do not hold the keys of life and death and that check out time will be up to Almighty God. So I cannot and do not tell them how long they have to live. That is a task best left to TV doctors.

More than once I have had a patient tell me that doctor Jones told them they would be dead in 6 months and 20 years later they are still alive and kicking. I gotta think that maybe Dr. Jones missed the diagnosis in the first place or perhaps God really saw fit to work a miracle. I do believe in miracles, but again that one is not up to us, no matter how much we would like it to be.

So my prayer is that Gabby will miraculously make a full recovery. However I just can't forget how disappointed that cheering crowd may be if they end up with a vegetable with eye movements......yes I know.......I'm just an old poop!

Let's Just Forget About the Second Amendment

Bill Maher is a blithering idiot. There is no other way to describe him. If you don't believe me, just listen to him on the Tonight Show:

He went on to say that people like me who carry a gun are just looking for an opportunity to shoot someone and be a hero.....and that is the only reason we carry. I wonder how this idiot would feel if his first amendment rights were suddenly removed and he was no longer allowed to spew his bullshit? I just love people who have an A la carte approach to the constitution.

Bill I'd like to tell you one thing: I carry a gun because I can and it pisses people like you off. If there were no other reason, that would be reason enough!

Howzat for a little incendiary speech?

Not a Good Way to Win Friends and Influence People

Ya know, I really like Michele Bachmann, but a few minutes ago I got a phone call from a fundraiser (telemarketer) giving me a spill about all the evils of the Democrat Party and the Obama administration. He assured me that Michele would make it all better and wanted to know when he could expect to receive my $250 dollar donation. (I guess this means she's running for president?)

"I don't give money to telemarketers." I said.

"I'm not a telemarketer, I'm a fundraiser." he declared.

"Same damned thing," I replied, "and I did not give you permission to call me. Take me off your list."

Then he goes into this big diatribe about how I am refusing to support the cause and not doing my duty, much the same way the bullshit NRA caller browbeat me when I would not give MORE money to John McCain........well this is exactly why I will not re-join the NRA and now I have an excuse NOT to contribute to Michele Bachmann.

Anyway, I kept repeating, "Take me off your list." Over and over again. I was not going to hang up on this asshole, but preferred to waste his time. Before it was over HE WAS YELLING AT ME! He FINALLY hung up.

I think I'll call Bachmann's office and complain. What do you think?

Another Crisis and Another Threat to Liberty

In the wake of the shooting of congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords, there is much hand wringing, weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth amongst the crowd of REGULATORS in Warshington DC. Once again we have a CRISIS and gubment must act, imposing "curbs on incendiary speech". Of course we know that incendiary speech had nothing to do with the shooting of congresswoman Giffords. That was the act of a madman. Nevertheless, it is time once again for congress to stick its nose into our bidness and start chipping away at the first amendment. Who defines "incendiary"? Who draws the line? Who make the decision? Who?

Of course dismantling of the second amendment will not be far behind. The lawmakers give no thought to the fact that the only thing curbing of second amendment rights does is take guns out of the hands of responsible, law abiding citizens. Fruitcakes and lunatics are going to get guns regardless of the law.

Yes, they want to make it a crime to threaten or incite violence against a federal official. Fine, while you're at it why not make it a federal crime to incite violence against healthcare providers? We get threatened by fruitcakes and lunatics all the time. It's really nothing new.

They are unhappy with the FCC and want to "better police language on the airwaves". What they fail to realize is that the FCC was created in 1934 to regulate the radio spectrum and who could use it. This nonsense about regulating speech, cable TV, the internet, is just more gubment out of control and typifies its insatiable desire to regulate, regulate, regulate, and regulate every damned aspect of our lives. Of course these dweebs in congress want to blame talk radio for all the ills of the world and in the end want to regulate it into oblivion.

The shooting in Arizona was a tragedy, but the federal gubment just needs to sit down and shut up. Let the legal system handle things.

Remember boys and girls, anytime the federal gubment does ANYTHING, it is bad for you and me. Say so long to more of your liberty.

Sometimes Knowledge Quells Optimism

Well I listen to the doctors on TV, day after day talking about Arizona congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords. After surviving being shot in the head the doctors say they are "optimistic" about her recovery.

I have to think back over the past 30 years and remember some of the brain injuries I have seen. Sorry to say that brain injuries almost never result in a good outcome. The fact that Giffords survived I guess is somewhat a miracle and like most doctors, the ones taking care of her try their best to drop tidbits of hope to her anxious family and in this case an anxious public.

At last assessment the bullet traversed the entire left hemisphere of her brain from front to back (there was debate whether the bullet entered the rear or the front). In any case, some mighty important things go on inside here, thought, interpretation of speech and language, formation of speech and language, movement and sensation to the right side of the body, just to name a few.

I do remember a few severely brain injured patients making what I would call miraculous recoveries. My now deceased mother-in-law, Ruth, is one example. She suffered a massive hemispherical bleed in her brain. On the CT scan it looked like almost one whole side had been wiped out. I never thought she would survive in the first place, but a few months later she was walking and talking and was completely her old self. I could tell she had subtle differences but to the untrained eye, you'd never know she had suffered such a catastrophe.

Ruth was the exception. The vast majority of the time these poor folks are never even close to what they were before the event. Some have no mind or ability to communicate. Some cannot speak or interpret speech (aphasia). Some are paralyzed. Most are unable to take care of themselves for the rest of their lives. I would personally prefer death.

So as I listen to the pundits on Fox News jump up and down over a "finger twitch" or a "thumbs up" I just have to sit back and sigh as I think back about the realities of brain injuries and the many many sad outcomes I have seen over the past 30 years.

I have no idea what the future holds for Gabrielle Giffords. If she does make a "full recovery" and returns to congress it will certainly be a miracle. Unfortunately, the odds are not in her favor.

This whole thing is very tragic. Even more tragic are the idiots on the left running around trying to assign blame over the actions of a lunatic. For God's sake, people, give it a rest!

WW2 Hero Goes on to Greater Glory

Dick Winters, the former soldier that inspired the HBO series, "Band of Brothers" has died. He was 92. It's hard for me to imagine the horror and the sacrifice endured by Winters and the men under his command as they parachuted into darkness on the French coast on June 6, 1944 and then fought their way all the way to the heart of Germany.

If you've never watched "Band of Brothers" you need to do it RIGHT NOW! It's on DVD.

Rest in peace, Major Winters and thanks for your service and our freedom.

In Florida , an atheist created a case against Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays..."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day.

Court is adjourned..." You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!

Laughing Out Loud for no Reason? There is Help!

More Facebook Fun

I was at work last night. We got the ER cleared out and after the snow started, things got quiet. It was around midnight and I got on Facebook and began reading some of the threads. Most of it had to do with the snow. Some were excited, some were not, some were posting goofy pictures of the snow (like we've never seen snow before), some were LOLing for no apparent reason......the usual Facebook stuff..

One girl (the names are omitted to protect the guilty) was describing her drive down Interstate 40 and began her thread by telling us that one truck was flipped over, and two trucks were off in the ditch. There were a couple of replies to this thread and then it dawned on me............

Can you guess?

Wait for it..........

Go figure.......

The Dog Killer Goes Down

Although I do not have a dog in the fight this year (figuratively speaking) I enjoy watching the NFL playoffs. It's nice to actually watch some good teams go head to head in sudden death competition, especially after watching the Titans struggle to win a game with Vince Young throwing fits on the sideline.

I especially enjoyed the NFC game this afternoon with the 6th seed Green Bay Packers defeating that dastardly dog killer, Mike Vick, and the Philadelphia Eagles. I guess I am going to adopt the Packers as my team this year. Unfortunately, they have to play the number 1 seed Atlanta Falcons next weekend, so their day in the sunshine may be short lived but we never know do we?

Hey I got nothing against Philadelphia or the Eagles, and I really like Andy Reid, but I have no use for anyone that would torture and kill helpless animals just for the hell of it. No, I am not in a forgiving mood when it comes to Mike Vick. I reckon the Titans are in the hunt for a new QB. I sure hope they don't end up with Vick.....I'd have to pull for someone else.

For Music Lovers

According to a recent study, the enjoyment of music is directly related to dopamine release. Dopamine is a chemical in the brain and is also responsible for the enjoyment of other pleasurable experiences such as eating or having sex.

If you're listening to music you particularly like, apparently your dopamine levels will peak right before you get to your favorite part. Maybe this explains why sometimes I'll become obsessed with a certain piece of music and I can listen to the same track over and over again and I like it better each time.......love that dopamine!

The study did not address dopamine levels in those of us that like to perform music live. That might be an interesting study. Anyway, the next time you're really grooving to your favorite piece of music, blame it on your dopamine, Go HERE to read all about it if you care to do so.

Morbid Strangers Strike Again

Once again, those rascally MORBID STRANGERS rocked Memories Bar and Grill in Centerville, TN. Everyone had a great time. Go HERE to see all our 2011 pictures.

LAUGHING OUT LOUD Causes 20 Car Pileup!

This just in! There was a 20 car pileup on I-95 in Virginia due to less that an inch of snow on the highway. My special sources tell me that 75 percent of the drivers involved were busy texting and LOLing to their Facebook friends about the snow! The LAUGHING OUT LOUD was so intense that several of the vehicles wrecked causing a chain reaction!

Internet ID Just for YOU!

Well lookie here! Looks like Curious George er uh Hussein Obama and the gubment are interested in creating an internet ID for Americans. According to this article they want to create "...a possible forthcoming smart card or digital certificate that would prove that online users are who they say they are...".

Well this is GREAT! I feel so much better and safer! How come the gubment does not show this much interest when it comes to VOTER IDENTIFICATION? Would it not make sense to know that the voters are who they say they are? Just askin'.

The Debt Ceiling

Someone help me understand this thing about the "Debt Ceiling". I hear the pundits say that we have to increase it or the United States will go into default and it will be a catastrophe. REALLY? WHY?

Now as an individual, if I had ever increasing debt I would suppose it was because of my spending, right? Now one possible "solution" would be to raise my credit limit on my credit card, and borrow more money to pay off my debts. The problem with this is that the debt will continue to increase in a vicious circle which will require that I go back to the credit card company for higher limits again and again and again. Another "solution" would be to increase revenue. Unfortunately, if my only source of revenue is the armed robbery of individuals, then there are probably going to be limits on the revenue I will be able to raise, RIGHT?

My last "solution" is when the bills come due, CUT SPENDING and use the savings to pay the bills. Glory! Hallelujah! As a blind hog will eventually do, I have stumbled upon the logical solution! Yes, I will have to give up some of the things I am used to having. Yes, it may be unpleasant and pretty tough for a while to get used to a less extravagant lifestyle, but slowly.....the debt will begin to recede.

Now, when the bills come due for Uncle Sam, why not cut spending in an amount necessary to pay the bills and NOT raise the debt ceiling? No default! No catastrophe!

Where is my thinking wrong about this? Someone explain it to me PLEASE! Could it be that Uncle Sam is really not SERIOUS about cutting spending?

You Axed for it, You Got it!

I can't help but shake my head at these young people (girls) running around.

"Oh I just can't wait to have a baby!"

"Oh I just can't wait to start a fambily!"

And then I watch them swell and puke and suffer for 9 months, running to the doctor for this that and the other thing.

Then what is really funny is that after the baby is born, these same people will go around pissing and moaning over the price of food, the price of diapers, baby clothes, and God forbid doctor bills! Yes, it is a fact, us rich, money grabbing, heartless doctors actually charge money to see those little yard apes.

And then, later on the yard apes grow up to be teenagers and suddenly momma and daddy become extremely stupid, but that's another story.

Needles to say, I do not show these folks any sympathy. As usual I just say, "Shudda had a puppy!"

Let the Filibuster Continue

Back on Christmas Day I posted, "KISS --- A Prayer for Simplicity". My wish then was for simple, single topic bills that everyone could read and understand, and an "up or down" vote. A commenter seemed to think that this indicated I was against the filibuster.

On the contrary, I LIKE the filibuster. Probably a lot of stupid proposed legislation has gone down in flames because of it. The filibuster has been much praised and also much maligned down through history...usually praised by the minority, thankful that they can block the will of the majority and maligned by the majority, unhappy that they are unable to steamroller through legislation that they want.

There is nothing in the Constitution about the filibuster. It is simply a senate rule that allows for debate to continue for an indefinite amount of time. To stop the debate, the senate must invoke CLOTURE which requires 60 votes. There has been whining lately mainly by Democrats to change the filibuster rules. This is simply because after November they lost their 59 seat majority (including 2 independents) and now they will have a much harder time pushing through nonsensical legislation. I wouldn't doubt that if the shoe were on the other foot that we would not hear the same whining from Republicans. One thing politicians on both sides are real good at is whining.

What I would like to see is a Constitutional amendment requiring 60 percent supermajorities in both the House and the Senate on ROUTINE legislation. Of course opponents would be running around wringing their hands and screaming that under such an amendment, the congress would not be able to get anything done!

EXACTLY! As I said here many times, usually when the congress does something, it is bad for us. Therefore, any obstacles and roadblocks that can be put in the way is a good thing. Getting things done in Warshington usually means less freedom and more debt and taxes for us.

For now the filibuster should continue, but Constitutional supermajorities sound like a much better idea to me. What say you?
