A Voice of Sanity in the Wilderness of Idiocy

You just know that some of the "climate change" fruitcakes out there have to be chomping at the bit to blame the recent tornado outbreak on man made global warming. Well apparently sane meteorologists (at least some of them) are having no part of it. Here is a refreshing article that explains the large number of tornadoes as a predicted event and based on the current LaNina phenomenon and "... natural fluctuations of the planet."

They also explain that while many people think we have more tornadoes than we did years ago, in reality we have better methods of forecasting and detecting tornadoes now as well as many trained weather spotters. The overall result is many more reported tornadoes.

Poor Algore.....he just can't catch a break, can he? By the way, if you haven't figured it out already, man made global warming is a HOAX! Get used to it.

LADIES! Semen Will Make You HAPPY!

Well, here's a classic example that doing useless research can be hazardous to your career. The dude at the left is Dr. Lazar Greenfield, who recently resigned his position as president elect of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Lazar recently did a study that suggested that semen contained chemicals that tended to make women happier. Dr. Lazar got in a whole lot of hot water over this and even after numerous apologies had to resign. I would like to include the text of his controversial article. Judge for yourself if there's anything at all here that you find offensive:

'As far as humans are concerned, you may think you know all about sexual signals, but you'd be surprised by new findings.
It's been known since the 1990s that heterosexual women living together synchronize their menstrual cycles because of pheromones, but when a study of lesbians showed that they do not synchronize, the researchers suspected that semen played a role.
In fact, they found ingredients in semen that include mood enhancers like estrone, cortisol, prolactin, oxytocin, and serotonin; a sleep enhancer, melatonin; and of course, sperm, which makes up only 1%-5%. Delivering these compounds into the richly vascularized vagina also turns out to have major salutary effects for the recipient.
Female college students having unprotected sex were significantly less depressed than were those whose partners used condoms (Arch. Sex. Behav. 2002;31:289-93). Their better moods were not just a feature of promiscuity, because women using condoms were just as depressed as those practising total abstinence. The benefits of semen contact also were seen in fewer suicide attempts and better performance on cognition tests.

So there's a deeper bond between men and women than St. Valentine would have suspected, and now we know there's a better gift for that day than chocolates.'
Well I found all that very enlightening but wouldn't you know that a bunch of people COMPLAINED? Apparently the people complaining were a bunch of FEMALE SURGEONS...

"some of whom said that it reflected a macho culture in surgery that needed to change."
One of the complainers was Dr. Collen Brophy, a surgeon at Vanderbilt. I dunno about the rest of you but I'm kinda thinking that Dr. Brophy and a bunch of these other gal surgeons are perhaps upset and out of sorts probably because THEY AREN"T GETTING ANY! Maybe if they were getting regular semen injections they would feel differently, but geez I gotta say that if I were an available participant, I probably would not want to accommodate the chick at the right......WHEW! Ok! Ok! I know I am being terribly insensitive and downright rude, but hey! I don't care!

Come on people! Do you not have anything better to be outraged about? Good grief! Get a life!

And ladies, don't forget your daily semen injection.

In the interest of fairness most surgeons, men and women, are not nice people. There are a few that I like but not many. Having said that, there are a couple of lady surgeons who have worked here at the hospital that are very nice.

WARNING! Your Dogs and Cats will be OFFENDED!

Just when you think you have heard just about the most stupid thing ever, something else comes along. There is a crackpot named professor Andrew Linzey of Oxford who states we should not call our dogs and cats "pets" but rather we should call them "companion animals". We are no longer the owners of these animals but rather "human carers".

Terms such as pets, critters, and beasts are found "insulting to the animals concerned". Yeah, I guess he's right. My beagle, Penny, told me the other day that she was really pissed cause I called her a pet.

Linzey goes on to say that use of these derogatory terms can affect the way they are treated. Once again he must be right. Michael Vick called me up the other day and told me if he had only known that dogs were "companion animals" he would never have engaged in dogfighting and would have indeed treated them much better.

You know folks, I just couldn't make this stuff up. What is so absurd is that Oxford evidently pays this guy real money to sit around and come up with this pure unadulterated crap. If I were king for a day, this lunatic would be escorted out on a rail and told to go get a REAL job. We wonder why our young children (skulls full of mush) grow up to be liberal lunatics? Well with "professors" like this what would you expect?

Click HERE to read all about this.

By the way, I refer to Penny as my "sweet baby girl".

Obama had no Choice in 'Birther' Fight

I read the headline of the article above and almost had to laugh out loud. Poor Hussein! He had no choice!?!?! He could have headed off a 'birther' fight in the very beginning if he had just come clean way back in 2008 and produced the required documents, but, no, here it is 2011 and Donald Trump is chomping at his heels.

I am still looking at this so called birth certificate and I imagine I'll have something to say about it in a few days. Obama is hiding something and he is a well documented liar. I don't believe a thing he says and I am sure not going to start now!

Thankful to be Alive and Well

This morning I have been looking at the pictures from Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, AL and I am just thinking how fortunate we were that nothing this bad came our way. I have spent the last couple of weeks groaning about a few broken trees and a few days without power but many people yesterday and in fact over the last three days lost everything in just a few seconds, indeed many lost their lives, and many last night did not have a place to lay their weary heads after their terrible ordeal. After a rough day my favorite thing is to go home and lay down on my comfortable couch, but what if all that was gone?

Thank you, God for looking out for us.

Domestic Violence at Lost Creek

Well I have to sadly report that we had battered green beans at Lost Creek tonight. These green beans were victims of domestic violence. They were in such bad shape that sweet Wifey and I had no choice but to dip them in horseradish sauce and put them out of their misery. Sad, so sad.

Unemployed

So what did this guy think was going to happen?

Donald Trump - Doing the Job the Mainstream Media and the GOP Establishment Won't Do!

The Donald is at it again. This time he is asking how Hussein Obama ever got into Ivy League schools. The Donald goes on to talk about what a "terrible student" Obama was and makes a challenge for him to "show his records". Yeah, I'd like to see that too. I don't know of any real world accomplishments the messiah has achieved. He claimed to be the editor of the Harvard Law Review and yet we can't seem to find a definite article attributed him. As far as we know, Hussein never held a real job, never ran a business, never hired employees, and never created wealth. No, all we know about him was that he was a "community organizer" (racial rabble-rouser). And yet here he sits in judgement of us all proposing more taxes and regulation on the people in the United States that create jobs. wealth, and prosperity.

Of course the Donald continues to "create awareness" (that's one of my favorite liberal terms) of the possibility that Obama is not a native born American and therefore disqualified to be president. In a USA Today poll, only 38 percent of Americans think Obama was DEFINITELY born in the USA. Hmmmm.....what about the rest of them? These numbers seem to have increased and I attribute the increase to Donald Trump.

Of course the usual suspects (the mainstream media and the GOP reruns) are running around wringing their hands saying Trump is a crackpot, he is hurting GOP candidates, and that he is not a serious candidate. In fact Trump's support seems to grow and number wise he is a top tier candidate right now. I for one like him because he is doing what the media and the GOP have failed to do. TAKE OFF THE GLOVES AND TAKE IT TO OBAMA! PULL NO PUNCHES! This is what the rest of the GOP needs to be doing but I guess they are afraid of being called a racist or afraid of being demonized by the press. This what they should have done in 2008, but when McCain refused to take charge I guess it was pretty hopeless. All the questions about his birth certificate, his educational accomplishments, and his qualifications to be president should have been thoroughly explored then.....THEY WERE NOT!

My friend, Rush Limbaugh, points out that the press is going to demonize the GOP and conservatives in general no matter what they do, so we might as well launch an all out attack on Obama.

I am not saying that Trump is my choice for president. I would certainly vote for him over Obama. There are a few others out there that I really like but whether any of these will float to the top at the right moment remains to be seen.

So for now we are stuck with this apparent socialist DUNCE of a president. I pray he does not get a second term.

Chinese Wind Turbines - Your Tax Money at Work

I just had to share this. Dear leader, Hussein Obama is spending stimulus money to install wind turbines in Rhode Island. Only problem is the turbines are MADE IN CHINA! So much for Obama's assertion that green energy will create American jobs. Go HERE to read all about it. Hat tip to Sweet Wifey.

Oil - The Energy Source of the Future

It is hard to argue with ignorant and gullible people. It is even harder when these people CHOOSE to remain ignorant and gullible. The other day I got in an argument on Facebook with a couple of people about oil. One woman assured me that oil was the "energy source of the past" and started quoting me all the liberal BS talking points about the greedy US consuming 25 percent of the oil while only having 2 percent of the reserves. I have heard this time and again, but I have looked and looked and I can't seem to find where this 2 percent comes from. Indeed, according to some sources, the Bakken field in North Dakota may contain more oil than all of the Saudi reserves. This does not even include reserves we have in ANWR and the gulf. So I'm not buying the 2 percent notion. Nevertheless, this woman insisted that more domestic drilling would not solve our problem of high gasoline prices and that oil was obsolete. Our future was in "alternative" energy sources.

Another gentleman was telling me about his concerns over the gulf oil disaster last year. He just did not think we should be drilling under water for ANY oil. OMG! The planet is at risk! Of course when I pointed out to him that none of this vile oil spill could be located today and that the real damage was caused by Obama's moratorium and the thousands of lost jobs in the gulf he did not have a logical answer. Funny how these crackpot environmental ideas always take front seat over people suffering from lost jobs and lost wages. No, it was just too dangerous to drill for oil in the gulf of Mexico. I pointed out to him that we were giving money to Brazil so they could drill offshore, also that Cuba and China are planning on drilling off OUR shores for oil, but this did not seem to make any difference. Seems everyone except us wants to drill for oil.

It is funny to me how people like this start talking about "GREEN" and "ALTERNATIVE" sources of energy. They mentioned hydrogen, solar, biofuels, and wind. And you would think COMMON SENSE would eventually take over after a while. However, when I ask them to explain to me how these green alternatives are going to be able to power our thousands of trucks down the interstates or how these alternatives are going to be able to power jet aircraft across the oceans, they don't seem to have an answer. In its present state of technology, green alternative energy IS NOT the solution to our energy needs today. These alternatives simply do not work.

So that brings us back to oil. We have it, but we need to develop the wherewithal to go after it. It will take getting rid of Barack Obama and telling the environmentalist wackos to go to hell. Indeed if we started drilling for our own oil now, that alone would not make an immediate impact, but if we could convince the Saudis that we were dead set on becoming energy independent, they would dramatically increase production and the current oil price would drop like a stone. The Saudis are just sitting back laughing at us all the way to the bank as they manipulate production and jack up our gas prices. If they suddenly realized they were going to be left out in the cold, I think their attitudes might rapidly change. A secondary effect of energy independence would be our ability to tell the Arabs to "get lost". We could extract ourselves from all the wars in which we find ourselves engaged and bring our men and women home for good. Screw the middle east! Face the facts! The only reason we are there now is because of oil. It is always about oil, no, the politicians may not admit it, but it is always about oil.

By the way, you may not realize it but there are a lot of other non-energy products that are dependent on oil. Here are just a few:
CLICK ON THE IMAGE FOR A LARGER VIEW........DUH!

Okay, now explain to me how we're going to substitute wind and solar and all that other nonsense to make the products in the above list. Don't just sit there fuming and wringing your hands. Tell me how it is going to happen.

One day, I have no doubt, another energy source will be found that is plentiful, reliable, and hopefully cheap, and hopefully will meet our same needs that oil meets for us today. So far that energy source has not been found and I do not see evidence of it anywhere on the horizon. When it does one day appear on the horizon, I'll be the first one to jump on board. Until that day, the COMMON SENSE thing to do is to go after the energy source we have now, the source that works and fulfills our energy needs, and that is oil. Oh and let's not forget coal and nuclear. I'm all for that as well.

In the meantime, let us not forget to get rid of Hussein Obama and his liberal buddies at the first opportunity, and remember, in the height of the storm, in the dark of night, always let COMMON SENSE rule!

Now quit whining and wringing your hands and tell me how you're going to fly a jet plane on sunbeams and gusts of wind.

Cleaning Up After the Windstorm

Yesterday was a busy day at Lost Creek. I had a crew here to take down and clean up my radio tower that was lost during the windstorm of April 4. It was quite a job.
A cherry picker was required to get the tower and antennas out of the trees.
Careful and skillful climbing was a must.
A skillful ground crew cleared away the mess.
The damage was extensive and expensive.
Penny, the beagle, was supervising.
The magnificent 110 foot structure survived for nearly 14 years through a variety of storms, but the storm of April 4 was more than it could handle. I'll have to say that I don't remember another one of such violence during the time we have lived here. Now comes the task of settling with the insurance company.

Click HERE to see all the pictures of the tower project. Many thanks to the Tri-State Repeater Association for their expertise.

Neal Boortz on the Disgusting Rich People and Taxes

  1. The top 1% of income earners in this country right now earn about 19% of the total income. So ... if they earn 19% of the total income, and you’re all for everyone paying their fair share, what percentage of income taxes collected by the government do you think these horrible rich people should pay? Fact is, they pay about 40%. If you don’t think that’s a fair burden, then why don’t you share the proper figure with the rest of us?
  2. All you need to know to understand that the game being played by Obama here is just good old fashioned class warfare is to remember that on the one hand Obama is talking about raising taxes on those households earning over $250K per year, while on the other hand he and his prog buddies refer to this group as “millionaires and billionaires.” There is no logic in his words ... only a desire to exploit jealousy and envy.
  3. The very people Obama is targeting for his tax increases are the people that we need to depend on right now for new jobs -- America’s small businessmen. Well over one-half of the households in this country reporting incomes of over $250K per year are really small businessmen reporting their business income on their personal tax returns. You need to ask yourself whether or not we would be better served by allowing these people to keep their money and use it to grow their businesses, or if you think that Obama could do a better job of spending this money for them.
  4. People can and do change their economic activities as tax rates go up and down; and this is doubly true for people in the upper income brackets. By law the White House, the Congress and the Congressional Budget Office must consider the affects of all tax increases or decreases on a static basis; in other words, they are not allowed to consider the possibility that some high-achiever or businessman out there is going to change his behavior based on changes in our tax structure. This is simply absurd. Every person with a child knows that you get more of the behavior that you reward and less of the behavior that you punish. When the reward for hard work and economic activity goes up, people work harder and are more active in the marketplace. When the reward goes down. Human nature, folks. You can’t fight it.

The Story of Fred

A cop stops a Harley for traveling faster than the posted speed limit, so he asks the biker his name.

 'Fred,' he replies.

 'Fred what?' the officer asks.

 'Just Fred,' the man responds.

The officer is in a good mood and thinks he might just give the biker a break and, write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then presses him for the last name.

The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it. The officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it. 'Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?'

The biker replies, 'It's a long story, so stay with me.' I was born Fred Johnson.  I studied hard and got good grades.

When I got older, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I went through college, medical school, internship, residency, and finally got my degree, so I was Fred Johnson, MD. After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I decided to go back to school.

Dentistry was my dream! Got all the way through School, got my degree, so then I was Fred Johnson, MD, DDS.

Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she gave me VD, so now I was Fred Johnson, MD, DDS, with VD.

Well, the ADA found out about the VD, so they took away my DDS.

Then I was Fred Johnson, MD, with VD. Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away my DDS because of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving me as Fred Johnson with VD.

Then the VD took away my Johnson, so now I am Just Fred.'

The officer walked away in tears..

Catch a Falling Baby

Here's a good news story. A woman at an Orlando, FL hotel apparently caught a 2 year old baby as it fell from a 4th floor balcony. The child was unhurt. Boy, talk about being in the right place at the right time!

The Lights are on and Somebody's Home

Well, I am at the salt mines today, working miracles, but Sweet Wifey informed me while ago that the electric company came, restrung our power lines, and the little house on the hill is once again alive with sweetness and light.

I am praying now for a long, uninterrupted, stretch of quiet, calm weather. I think the whole community deserves a break.

Indecent Exposure

Doncha just love the picture to the left? Is not this the most beautiful girl you have ever seen? It so happens that this person is in Sheriff Joe Arpaio's jail in Arizona for....

...wait for it...

...wait for it...

INDECENT EXPOSURE!

Dang! I cudda had a woman like that! What was I thinking?

Yikes! I just love Sheriff Joe. He has started posting the pictures online of some of his prize inmates. He says the increased web traffic will highlight the hard work of his employees and the viewing of the photos may lead to more arrests.

Here we sit in Decatur County, Tennessee, raising our wheel tax and raising it again to pay for our new jail so we can coddle the resident scumbags. Instead we need to follow the lead of Sheriff Joe. Make a prison camp. Let them live in tents. Make them grow their own food. Make them wear pink underwear on hot days, make them work instead of sitting around watching TV, and tell them if they do not like it, "don't come back".

American Ignoramuses

Here's a bit of distressing news, at least to me. According to this article, most Americans cannot name a GOP presidential candidate. Very bad, very bad, especially as we sit here in despair watching Hussein Obama trying to destroy the very fabric of America.

The real shame is that these same people probably can name for you all the folks on Idol, the Bachelor, Jersey Shore, Dancing with the Stars, and all those important and educational shows. I guess you can't blame people though. Many of them were victims of the gubment school system.

More Symbolism over Substance

Well, hanging up pink ribbons for a pretty much hopeless cause is one thing but when you start spending taxpayer money for more symbolism over substance that is quite another.

That is exactly what happened at a Florida unemployment agency when $14,000 was spent to provide 6000 red capes to unemployed people.

This was part of their "Cape-A-Bility Challenge" in an attempt to "connect" with the community. I am sure all those unemployed people really did FEEL BETTER after getting those capes.

Yes, all this nonsense was funded by the sweat of your brow, boys and girls. Just think of how many useful things could have been purchased with the 14 grand! Or better yet, give it back to the taxpayers! What a concept!

Fine Spring Weather

Well, another big blow came through last night. We've been on generator power since about 10PM yesterday. There was a big tree blocking our road this morning. The internet came back about 2 hours ago. It must be global warming. I'm a little tired of all this fine spring weather.

Pink Ribbons will not Help

I was awake at 4:30 this morning, at the hospital, working miracles, saving lives. I had finished up a case and was looking at the weather radar before going back to crawl under my rock and try for a little shuteye.

One of the friendly nurses approached me and handed me a pink ribbon. "What is this for?" I asked. I was told it was to "increase awareness" about the abduction of Holly Bobo. Unless you've been living in a cave, you've probably heard about the alleged abduction of this 20 year old girl who lives just a few miles away from Mr. and Mrs. Grouch.

I smiled and politely declined. "I don't do ribbons," I declared.

The nurse seemed shocked and puzzled. I explained that I was about as aware of Holly Bobo as I was going to get and wearing a ribbon was not going to make me or anyone else any more aware.

I went on to explain that wearing ribbons, posting bulletin after bulletin on Facebook, posting and reposting the news in your Facebook status, or changing your profile picture to a pink ribbon was simply a waste of time and was not going to do a damned thing to enhance the chances of finding Holly Bobo.

And yet that is about ALL I have seen on Facebook for the past couple of days. This seems to be a major pastime on Facebook. I see requests for people to repost in their status to "increase awareness", if they know someone who has had cancer, if they loved their dead mother, if they are against child abuse........the list of causes goes on and on. The fact of the matter is that this stuff is just a waste of time. The only thing it ultimately accomplishes is to make the person doing it "FEEL BETTER". Symbolism over substance and this is why I do not participate.

Am I sad and concerned that Holly Bobo is missing? Of course! Do I hope she is found safely? Absolutely! Am I concerned this happened so close to home? For sure! This is why I carry a gun every day and everywhere I go. So does sweet Wifey.

Wearing a pink ribbon is not going to make me feel a bit better or make me more aware. If people need to be aware of anything they need to be aware that there are a lot of evil lunatics out there. They need to be aware that carrying a gun is their constitutional right. They need to be aware of their surroundings and they need to THINK AHEAD and avoid putting themselves in positions that increase their risk.

As for Holly Bobo, I hope she is found, safe and sound. Sadly in life bad things often happen to good people and we frequently never know the reason why. The sun shines and the rain falls on the righteous and the evil alike.

There is just something about this idea of engaging in useless tasks just so one can FEEL BETTER that bugs me. I have to think this activity is something over time that has been perpetrated by the liberal left. It is easy to do stuff to make yourself feel better about a tragic situation. It is a lot harder to actually get up off your butt and do something definitive and productive to change a bad situation. It is very easy to confiscate money from hard working Americans and give it away to someone else. Liberals FEEL SO MUCH BETTER as long as they are giving away someone else's money. I have heard my friend Rush Limbaugh say on many occasions that being a liberal is the easiest thing in the world. He's right. Relying on yourself and REALLY making a difference.....that's hard.

It wouldn't surprise me that if before long they started dispatching GRIEF COUNSELORS to our area to HELP the local residents FEEL BETTER. Sorry folks, but I just don't have much use for grief counselors. In fact when I was a kid and a young person I don't ever remember hearing of such a thing. Indeed this appears to be an invention of our modern times as we relinquish more of our self control and self esteem to someone else (often the government) just so we can FEEL BETTER.

In my life good things have happened to me as well as bad. I have lost 2 parents, other loved ones and friends. Never did I need a grief counselor. Never did I feel the need to wear a pink ribbon or accept a government handout. No, instead I GOT OVER IT, threw my ass over my shoulder, and moved forward with my life. I choose not to dwell on the bad rather to plan for a better future.

So if you want to wear a pink ribbon and change your Facebook picture or post and repost the same old thing on your status just so you'll feel better, go right ahead. I won't be joining you.

Driving home from town a little while ago I noticed pink ribbons on cars, churches, the hospital, telephone poles, and a school bus. What is sad is that many of the people posting these ribbons really think they are making a difference.......SIGH!

Motorcycles and Past Decisions

After my last post I got to thinking back about other motorcycles I had owned and what might have been if other twists and turns of fate had been followed. First of all, were it not for motorcycles I might have never met sweet Wifey. If you have not read the account of how we met, go HERE NOW and read. Now that you're back realize that as I pulled up to her stalled car at the red light, I was right next to her driver's side window gazing down at her nice long legs. Had I been in my car, I would not have been able to see, and probably not have realized she was stalled. You pay attention to a lot more stuff when you are on a motorcycle. That motorcycle in 1972 was a Kawasaki 750 H2 Mach IV.

This was a beast of a machine. It had a 74 horsepower engine and had the best power to weight ratio of any motorcycle on the street. Without a doubt it was the quickest and the fastest 750 around. The H2 had a bad reputation. Its sudden burst of power could be an unpleasant surprise to the unsuspecting rider. The front wheel could easily come off the ground and there were many stories of crackups and accidents with this machine. I had had a Kawasaki 500 before this one which was actually even more unpredictable so by the time I advanced to the 750 I pretty much had mastered the machine.

It was also not the most comfortable thing to ride. After a half hour or so my butt would be uncomfortably numb. It also was not environmentally friendly. Such a machine would never make it today. The environmental wackos would have a stroke over it. It had after all a 2 stroke, oil injected, 3 cylinder engine. Like any conventionally aspirated and ported 2 stroke, it smoked, and when you were really winding it up it left an obvious trail of blue smoke behind. It also sounded weird. Instead of the throaty thump thump of my Vulcan today, the H2 produced a rather steady whine which converted to almost a scream when you really wound it up.

It was rough on chains and back tires. I went through 2 chains, 2 sprockets, and one rear tire in the relatively short time I had it.

Nevertheless, it was the motorcycle on which I found sweet Wifey. We rode many places and saw many sights on it during our summer of love in 1972.

Late in 1973 we decided that the smart thing for me to do was go back to college with the idea of eventually getting into medical school. At the young age of 20 I decided that it would probably be wise for me to be studying instead of riding around on a motorcycle. We were young and didn't have much money and the funds from the sale of the motorcycle would be welcomed as well. So in the summer of 1973, I sold the H2 and I did not ride motorcycles again until I got the Vulcan last year.

Many times I have wished I still had that old H2. They discontinued the model in 1978 and even if I had one now I probably couldn't find the parts to keep it running. Indeed the Kawasaki H2 is relegated to history along with a bunch of other thing that were cool and state of the art when I was a kid.

The happy ending is that I still have sweet Wifey and another motorcycle and we can ride once again!

Today was a noteworthy day. I took sweet Wifey for her very first ride on the Vulcan. I had waited for a long while until I was confident that I had my sea legs back and would not spill her off of the thing. I didn't care if I busted my ass, but her ass is too beautiful to damage.
Things went well. I did a lap around Beech Bend Park at about 10mph, twisting and turning trying to decide how the handling of the bike was changed with her on the back. I am pleased to report that I basically could not tell she was there other than I could feel her holding on to me. We left the park and I took her around the block (17 miles through Parsons, Decaturville, and back). The Vulcan is smooth and comfortable, no vibration, no bumping, no shaking, and no surprises, and enough power to pull up a stump. I told her next time we did the movies in Jackson, we'd do it on the 2 wheeler. Yes, another great day at Lost Creek!

The Math Just Does Not Add Up

I'm pretty good at math. I made it through several layers of calculus in college. According to Treasury Direct, the interest on our 14 trillion dollar national debt for the fiscal year is 215.58 BILLION dollars.

Looking at the great Republican victory of shaving 38.5 billion from the budget I find that we have gotten a handle on things. We will be able to pay the interest on the national debt with these huge cuts for about the next 64 days. I dunno what we're gonna do for the remaining 301 days.

Boys and girls, we are in deep doo doo. Even if we were to somehow implement Paul Ryan's proposal of cutting 6 trillion from the budget over the next 10 years (600 BILLION per year) we would still be in deficit spending 10 years from now.

Of course it will be exacerbated when the next president, whoever that may be, proposes his/her next trillion dollar program for our own good.

Wind Power

Tomorrow I have someone coming by to look at the tower that I lost in Monday's wind storm. They asked me to send some pictures so I went out to take some more.
I wandered up through the woods to discover that the guy post on the windward side had been completely uprooted from the ground. This had to be a helluva wind because this post was sunk in concrete and stabilized with screw in anchors. I was once again very thankful. Our losses could have been so much greater.
The power of mother nature is indeed awesome.

Helping? Really?

Sweet Wifey and I were watching CSI a little while ago. One of the characters made the comment, "When someone says they are doing something to help somebody else, they are usually doing it to help themselves."

I immediately thought of congress. While John Boehner is busy patting himself on the back for the 38.5 billion dollar "deal" he made with the Dimocrats, I am sitting here thoroughly disgusted. 38.5 billion dollars is pocket change when faced with a multitrillion dollar budget and a 14.5 TRILLION dollar national debt. It is not going to solve a damned thing. I was hoping for at least 100 billion. 300 or 500 billion would have been better.

If my budget here at home was say, $3000 a month and I was in financial trouble, I don't think I would make much headway if I cut $38.50 from my budget plans. Oh wow! Instead of spending $3000 a month, I'm only going to spend $ 2961.50! Wow! I have done so good! How stupid do the politicians think we are?

Next comes the battle over raising the debt ceiling. I expect massive caving once again from the Republicans. They are spending all this money to "help us". Spending it on programs that are wasteful, useless, and DON"T WORK. And no matter how loud the people scream at them, they just can't seem to give it up. The truth is that they don't care a rat's ass about us. They are just looking out for their own political necks. The Republicans had a chance to do something great and once again they COMPROMISED with Dimocrats.

It is time for TERM LIMITS for everybody. The idea of a CAREER POLITICIAN should become a thing of the past. This, after all, is the root of the problem. In my humble opinion a representative should be limited to no more than three 2 year terms, a senator to a SINGLE 6 year term. At the end of it there should be no cushy health care deals or retirement plans for them to enjoy for the rest of their lives. No worries about re-election cause there would not be any damned re-election. This I think would be the best start toward solving our spending problems.

This wimpy compromise last night has, I fear, assured the re-election of Obama. The tea partiers are going to be flaming mad. I am mad as hell. I think the formation of a third party is now more real than it has ever been. This is exactly what the Dimocrats wanted. Once again, the stupid Republicans have played right into their hands.

BOEHNER MUST GO!
