I Survived Irene!

It was the "Doomsday Scenario". It was the "50 year storm". There was non-stop, wall to wall coverage of this monster hurricane on the Weather Channel and the news channels. Weathermen and weatherwomen across the nation were standing out in the storm. Many of them have prepared all their lives for such a moment! They were going to have their perfect storm and nobody, including mother nature, was going to deprive them of it.

We were all awestruck and trembling in our boots as we watched the category 1 monster slam into the outer banks of North Carolina! Never before has that state suffered such a fate!

New York Mayor, Nanny Bloomberg, was wringing his hands telling New Yorkers to "get out" reminding them that failure to do so was "illegal". Nanny Bloomberg just loves telling people what to do. After all, he knows best. The average New Yorker is just a blithering dumbass. Wonder what Bloomberg is going to do with all those lawbreakers?

Shepard Smith on the Fox News Channel actually peed his pants 4 or 5 times as he watched the storm approach. It is a good thing for Shepard that there was not a car chase going on in Los Angeles. Otherwise he would have had to do split screen commentary. The Dimocrats have said, "Never let a crisis go to waste." Smith has been heard to say, "Never let a car chase go to waste!"

I was reassured when Hussein Obama finally came on TV to "take charge". He can lower the sea level with a wag of his finger doncha know?

I was even more relieved when MSNBC brought Ray "Schoolbus" Nagin, former New Orleans mayor, on camera to discuss emergency preparedness!

I find it so invigorating when people who generally cannot find their butts with both hands come around to lend their sage advice.

Of course, as I already predicted, the Algore types are saying that the massive category 1 Irene is a signal of "climate change". You just knew it was going to happen.

A couple of days ago I changed from Fox News to the Weather Channel. "Why did you do that?" sweet Wifey asked.

"Because Geraldo Rivera just came on to talk about the Hurricane." I replied.

Sweet Wifey pointed out to me that one good thing about the hurricane was that we actually got WEATHER on the Weather Channel instead of the usual Storm Stories or Jim Cantori's, TALES FROM THE CRYPT. I actually got a little aggravated at Jim Cantori because when they would put the "hurricane expert" on to discuss the storm, Jim Cantori would keep talking......he just wouldn't shut up. Did any of y'all notice that?

It was touch and go there for a while, but with a good stiff drink and some Cheyenne and Maverick reruns stored on the DVR, sweet Wifey and I somehow miraculously survived Irene!

GENUINE Conservatism!

I know most of you that are paying attention have already heard Senator Marco Rubio's speech from the Reagan Library. If you have not heard it, mute the TV, put down everything else you're doing, click on the video below, give it your undivided attention, and WATCH and LISTEN.

After watching this speech I had a lump in my throat and a chill down my spine. This was much the same feeling I had the first time I heard Ronald Reagan speak. Here is a true conservative. You can tell by watching that this man loves America. He would never ever apologize for her greatness. He is unscripted. You can tell he truly believes everything he says. There is nothing phoney or contrived.

In this day of Hussein Obama's, Joe Biden's, Harry Reid's, and Nancy Pelosi's, how inspiring and refreshing it is to hear someone really telling the truth. I told sweet wifey that this man needs to be president one day......if we survive that long. Now go watch and listen.

The Nightmare Scenario - Will Global Warming be Blamed?

Well hurricane Irene is headed for North Carolina. Right now it is leaving the Bahamas as a category 3 storm. According to the chart above it should strike North Carolina as a category 2. Some are saying this is the "nightmare scenario".

Hmmm, well when I look at it I don't find anything at all so special about Irene. Plenty of category 2 storms have struck North Carolina in the past. This is really nothing out of the ordinary. By Sunday afternoon it is supposed to be down to a category 1, again nothing special.

The special thing about this storm is the track. It is supposed to go right up the I-95 corridor. If it does there is no doubt it will create quite a mess. If it veered 100 miles to the west it would make landfall and quickly dissipate. If it veered 100 miles to the east most of its effects would be over open water. So it is not the strength of Irene but the track which is determined by the position of the Bermuda high and the position of the jet stream over the United States.

Somehow if Irene does make history as a major troublemaker, I have a feeling the global warming hoaxers will come crawling out from under their rocks spewing more of the nonsense of man-made global warming. It will be most interesting to me to see how they will explain how global warming can effect the position of steering currents and turn a rather large but otherwise plain vanilla hurricane into a real troublemaker.

From what I have read, Katrina actually made landfall as a category 3 rather than the cat 5 status it had over the Gulf of Mexico. It seems that the destruction most of the time is a matter of where the hurricane strikes rather than the intensity of the storm. Beware to those who choose to live on the coast!

It is a similar thing with tornadoes. I have heard it said that if the tornado that devastated Joplin, MO. had passed 20 miles to the south, it would have been over open country and we probably would not have heard much of anything about it.

Somewhere tonight, Algore is screeching and wringing his hands.

As the Teat is Withdrawn, the Mob Violence Will Begin

Presidential candidate, Ron Paul thinks there is mob violence in our future as necessary cuts are made. We are already seeing it now in Europe and on a lesser scale in Wisconsin. These are scary times.

Time to Separate the Sheep from the Goats

Your president and the federal gubment is once again hard at work and spending more of your money you don't have and depressing job growth by...........wait for it........

Regulating GOAT HERDING! Yes my friends. The gubment has stuck its nose into the goat herding bidness. They now make it their bidness to dictate new rules. Here is a synopsis:

These new special procedures issued by the Labor Department must be followed by employers who want to hire temporary agricultural foreign workers to perform sheep herding or goat herding activities.  It describes strict rules for sleeping quarters, lighting, food storage, bathing, laundry, cooking and new rules for the counters where food is prepared.

So we are involved in a couple of wars. We are drowning in debt and more or less bankrupt and they are worried about stuff like this????

It is time we separated the sheep from the goats and Obama is the goat.

Watcher’s Council Nominations – Dog Days Edition

Ah, the sultry lazy days at the end of summer, when the warm weather brings out the torpor and laziness in all of us and little gets accomplished except by the determined and the desperate. The Romans were the first to label this time of year the Dog Days(dies caniculares), noting that Sirius, the Dog Star, was the brightest star in the night sky at this time of year.

No RINOs in My Future

Well I keep hearing that Paul Ryan may run for president. I am really disappointed in Paul Ryan. After all he voted for the disastrous "debt deal", the "Satan sandwich". I realize that from time to time legislators if they serve long enough will sometimes vote for bad legislation. This is often because a bunch of bad stuff will be amended to a good bill. Why can't they have bills that address one issue and one issue only? I guess sometimes the legislator kinda gets painted into a corner and has to weigh the good against the bad.

I understand all this but in the case of Paul Ryan, this vote for the debt deal was really big. He and the rest of the yes votes handed Obama another couple of trillion dollars (imaginary money) to waste and fritter away.

I don't know if I can ever get past this. I do know that if Ryan declares he will not be in my top tier and he will really have to show me something special to ever arrive there. And now I hear that the Republican establishment is hoping he will declare.......not a glowing endorsement in my book. No, it is the ones the establishment trash that are the ones we teaparty types are looking for,

And then there is New Jersey governor, Chris Christie. As the days drag on I hear more and more talk of him throwing his hat in the race. Now you have to admit that Christie creates excitement. He doesn't mind cutting and slashing these nonsensical, wasteful programs away from the Dimocrats, giving the Dimocrats the finger all at the same time. This is a good thing, a very good thing. The time for compromising with these boobs is over. Sadly I don't think Christie is a conservative. From what I have read, he's soft on global warming and soft on illegal immigration. As much as I appreciate his fiscal toughness, I have said already that there will be no RINOs in my voting future. If Christie declares he will have to work very hard to convince me he deserves my vote.

Right now it looks like I'm hanging with either Bachmann or Perry. I like Herman Cain but it seems as if he's just not getting any real traction. Time will tell.
I have said it before and I'll say it again, if the Republicans give me a RINO in the general election, I will not vote for him/her, even if that means Obama wins a second term. God help us all.

Ignorance and Stupidity is a Choice

I was listening to a woman ramble on over the reality TV show, Big Brother. I have never watched this nonsense and will not but it has something to do with people living together in a house and the object of the game is to avoid eviction. Sounds exciting doesn't it?

Anyway, this woman was all hot and bothered over something that happened on the show. I asked her why she was wasting her time watching that nonsense and if she had bothered to watch the Republican presidential debate.

She let me know that there was no need to watch stuff like the debate. She also let me know that all politicians were the same….BAD……and nothing she would see or hear would change her mind. Just in case you were wondering, this woman voted for Hussein Obama in 2008. I did not ask her if she could name any of the Republican contenders. I just did not get that far but I can guess at the results.

Now you have to ask, upon what did she base her decision to vote for Obama? We have already seen that she refuses to educate herself about candidates. Most likely she caught some glimpses of the "hope and change" thing on the network news and that was all she needed to make a choice.

To refuse to educate one's self with the blanket statement "politicians are all the same" is the height of laziness. It is tragic when the fate of our very country is at stake. Indeed, Obama got elected in the first place by a huge number of uninformed votes, too busy laughing out loud over stupid reality shows to find out the truth.

The same day of my encounter with this ignorant woman, I saw some dude on Facebook wishing that an INDEPENDENT candidate would emerge that he could vote for. He just could not make himself choose any of the Republican candidates.

I did not engage this person in conversation but anyone that has ever paid attention would know that an independent candidate separated from either party would never have a snowball's chance of ever winning.

Besides, what exactly is an independent anyway? Amongst Republicans are those we call the "moderates". Republicans who claim to be conservatives but are really moderates are RINOs. I don't think there are really any moderates in the Dimocrat party. All those people are leftists even though most of them will probably not admit it.

So what exactly is a moderate? Where do they stand on the issues? Name for me some of the great moderates in American history. I think to be a true moderate you first have to be a politician. The political moderate goes around with his/her finger up in the air testing the direction of the political winds and will vote accordingly.

Among non-politicians I believe there are actually very few true moderates. Oh I know there are some. I know several people that cannot make up their mind about anything and could not make a firm decision to save their life. These people for the most part are gullible and easily duped (Obama voters). After all, if you don't stand up for something, you're gonna fall for anything.

Most of the people I know who profess to be moderates or independents will actually espouse conservative values when questioned about it. Most believe in hard work and individual accomplishment. Most believe in God and country. Most believe in free speech and the right to keep and bear arms. Most believe in life. Most believe in low taxes and most of them are upset over our huge debt. Indeed, most of these people think pretty much like me.

When you ask them about political affiliation they will frequently identify themselves as "independents". Some even claim to be Dimocrats even though their values are opposed to everything the current Dimocrat party preaches and teaches. I think many of these people find it distasteful to identify with either party. I for one identify myself as a conservative, more specifically a Reagan conservative. It just so happens that nobody in the Dimocrat party represents any of my values. Many in the Republican party do not either.

So the next time you find a rock ribber independent, ask them to explain independent values. You'll usually get some interesting answers.

And then there are the blithering dumb-asses who really don't have a clue about anything.

The Huntsville Hamfest

Well yesterday was a busy day for the Grouch. I left out at 4:30AM on the iron horse bound for Huntsville, AL. My destination was the Huntsville Hamfest, located at the Von Braun Center.

The day began with breakfast at the Embassy Suites, right next door to the hamfest. The Embassy is a very nic place.
We met many famous amateur radio operators.
Several pretty, smiling young ladies were around.
The Decatur County Amateur Radio Club was well represented.
The iron horse was busy, logging nearly 300 round trip miles.
We finished up the day by migrating to the home of Tim (KK5H) and Rhonda Holland for barbeque and fellowship. A fine time was had by all.
Huntsville and the Von Braun Center is a beautiful area. Go visit my FLICKR set to see all of my high resolution pictures of the hamfest and the Von Braun Center.

He's IN!

Texas governor, Rick Perry, has finally announced his candidacy for president of the United States. I am excited. Perry is a conservative and is not afraid to show it. Perry is a global warming denier and not afraid to say it. There is something about Perry, his look, his demeanor, his presentation, that makes me think he could mop the floor with Hussein Obama.

I don't just want Obama to be beaten. I want him to be DESTROYED. After what this unqualified and illegitimate (Kenyan) bastard has done to this country I want him to be humiliated in defeat.

Right now, Perry, Bachmann, and Cain are all in my top tier. I am not ready to make a choice just yet. I am watching, waiting, and learning, and particularly waiting to see what Sarah Palin and John Bolton may do. At this point I am delighted that there are some people in the race that I can REALLY support.

He's OUT!

It's official! The squishy, waffling, on again, off again, wimpy, limp wristed, limp dicked, global warming believing RINO, Tim Pawlenty has dropped out of the presidential race.

No sir, he just could not stand up to the drubbing he received in the Iowa straw poll.

I actually wanted to slap the stew meat out of him with his lame attempts to attack Michele Bachmann in the Thursday night debate. That woman has more stones than Pawlenty could ever hope to grow. I hope his poor showing is a signal to would be RINOS that the people that make this country work are sick and tired of people who won't stand strong on conservative principles.

The Grouch Assesses Republican Primary Candidates - August Edition

Just in case any of you wondered where I stand, I thought I might give you my opinion of the current list of Republican presidential candidates. I'll update this each and every month until a single Republican is selected. If you think I'm all wet, leave me a comment and try to convince me otherwise:

For my July report, CLICK HERE.

I finally finished watching all of the Republican debate from last Thursday night. I went away with really no big surprises. Ron Paul's isolationist stance is scary. I understand where he is coming from but I don't think it is possible for us to withdraw from the rest of the world. For now I will leave him in category 2 but just barely. This is too bad cause I really like a whole lot of the other stuff he has to say.

I am leaving Rick Santorum in category 2. He is a good conservative, but, damn, he's so whiny! There he went complaining about his lack of air time in the debate. I do not like whiners and drama queens.

Rick Perry has just announced. I have added him to category 1. I really like Perry. I'm waiting for someone to convince me otherwise.

CATEGORY 1
I WILL HAPPILY VOTE FOR:

Herman Cain
Michele Bachmann
Rick Perry

CATEGORY 2
I WOULD HOLD MY NOSE AND VOTE FOR:

Rick Santorum (stop whining, Rick)
Ron Paul (he may need psych meds) (barely hanging on to CAT 2)

CATEGORY 3
IF THEY ARE IN THE GENERAL ELECTION, I'LL VOTE 3rd PARTY, YOU'RE WELCOME, PRESIDENT OBAMA:

Mitt Romney (true RINO)
Newt Gingrich (a LIAR and a RINO)
Jon Huntsman (probably should be a Dimocrat)
Gary Johnson (where was he?)
Tim Pawlenty (a truly wimpy thang!)

There are several other minor candidates who I have omitted. If any should float to the top, I will render a judgement upon them.

Just for fun I'm watching Sarah Palin, Allen West, Chris Christie, Paul Ryan, and John Bolton as possibles. If any of these later declare, I will certainly give you a grouchified opinion.

The CAT 3 candidates all said a bunch of good sounding things. In fact if you did not know any better, you might think Romney or Gingrich or Huntsman might make great candidates. The problem is that a RINO is a RINO and a LIAR is a LIAR. These people have their fingers in the wind and will say pretty much anything that will get them a vote.

There you go. The GROUCH has spoken. If you don't like my selections, let's hear about it!

Chicago Cockroaches

A Chicago city clerk wants her staff removed from the basement of city hall until a persistent problem with cockroaches is remedied. She described the roaches as "Jurassic Park sized" and stated that the whole situation was "disgusting".

The Grouch at Right Truth conducted a special investigation and we sent our special spycam to the city hall. I am saddened to report that the situation is much worse than we first thought.

What if He Prayed to Allah?

Well, Texas governor, Rick Perry is under fire because he's planning to host a major prayer event in Houston. Yes, he has created quite a stink among the Anti-Defamation League, the lame stream media, and a variety of other left wing fruitcakes:

Groups like the Anti-Defamation League have criticized Perry for holding the event, which the ADL said "violates the spirit" of his constitutional duty to treat all Texans equally. Barry Lynn of Americans United for Church and State told Hotsheet that Perry is "confused," saying "He is the governor of Texas - he is not an official preacher or prayer leader."

Yeah, governor Perry has got some nerve publicly praying to the Christian God! Oh the horror! Hmmmmmm.........if he were praying to Allah, or hosting a Muslim event, do you think we'd hear anything about it? Well, what do you think?

Perry is expected to announce his candidacy for President of the United States before the end of the month. I can't wait.
