On the Lighter Side

Hat Tip - Mike Pollack

Multiple Choice

If you were a black person (or any color for that matter) looking for a job, who in the list below could most likely create employment for you?

1. Al Sharpton
2. Congressman Charlie Rangel.
3. The "reverend" Jesse Jackson
4. Barack Hussein Obama
5. Herman Cain

Be honest now.......
Herman Cain says blacks have been "brainwashed" against the GOP. He's right! What have 50 years of liberal Dimocrat policies done for the black community as a whole other than make them dependent on gubment? You tell'em, Herman.

Rick Perry Apologizes

Rick Perry has apologized. He has apologized for calling those of us that disagree with his instate tuition plan "heartless".

No apology necessary, governor. Like I said before, if protecting the borders of the United States is heartless, then I am heartless. You should be apologizing for not acting like a conservative on this important issue of illegal immigration. I have a feeling the conservative base is just not going to support someone giving handouts to illegals. They broke the law, governor, they broke the law.

Boundless Technologies (Pvt) Ltd. SPAM!

I really hate spammers. I particularly hate those that use my blog to try and promote their product. Anyway some dude from Pakistan used one of my recent posts to try and promote his product, a closed circuit TV camera. Click HERE for the post.

I implore all my readers, send this guy hate mail, and NEVER consider his product.

You know, if he had asked me to do a post about his product, I would have been OK with that, but don't try to sneak that BS in as a comment without my permission. I'll flame you if you do.

By the way, I have had a couple of people say they are unable to add comments to my posts. One person thought I had him blocked. I assure you this is not the case. I have never blocked anyone or deleted any comments at GROUCH since its creation in February of 2009. There is no comment moderation here. Frankly, you can say anything you want to say here, no matter how stupid or disagreeable your comment might be. I have never gotten in the way of anyone wishing to make a fool of him/her self. The only proviso is that if you post anonymously, I will ignore you. If you desire a response, you'll have to have the stones to say who you are. If you find that you are unable to post comments at GROUCH, you have an issue with BLOGGER, not me.

So there you go. The GROUCH has spoken.

Romney vs. Cain on the Economy

Well I dunno about the rest of you, but I'm a simple kind of guy. Mitt Romney's 59 point plan on spurring job growth and fixing the economy sounds about as complex as the present tax code which nobody can understand and is full of pitfalls and loopholes.

Give me simplicity! A 9% corporate tax, a 9% flat income tax, and a 9% national sales tax, YEAH! Now you're talking! Who proposed the 9-9-9 plan? Oh, it was the black guy!

Anybody who talks about dismantling the IRS as we know it is a serious contender in my book

DNC Accuses Herman Cain of Racism

The Dimocrat National Committee has labeled presidential hopeful, Herman Cain a RACIST. This came after Cain called president Obama a "liar" and labeled Obama's approach to the economy as "bullshit".

DNC spokesman Iam B. Fuddled launched the racism charge stating that the "completely black Herman Cain had no business saying such things about the half-white Barack Obama. This is a case of black racism, pure and simple."

It was said that Cain responded to the racism charge in the same manner as he described Obama's economic plan.

High Tech Solutions from DirecTV

Well my DirecTV receiver went south last Wednesday and after 6 days, the friendly technician finally arrived to fix my problem. We plugged in the old unit and he listened to the hard drive clatter and search for its mind. He just shook his head and pulled a brand new unit from his bag of tricks. 15 minutes later he was gone and the new DVR was up and running.

Why did they not just Fedex me a new DVR 6 days ago?

Just a Little Football

Well I have not posted anything to do with football in some time. Frankly I did not know what to expect from the Tennessee Titans this season. New coaching staff, a buncha new players, new quarterbacks, everything is new, so who knows what the future holds?

Well I went in with no expectations and now they are 2 and 1. They impressively dismantled a Baltimore Ravens team a week ago and today in spite of mistakes and tons of useless penalties, they still managed to find a way to win over the Broncos.

I had not paid much attention to quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck before, but I gotta say his play so far has been impressive and he has put up some good looking numbers.

The disappointment is the way overpriced running back, Chris Johnson has done pretty much nothing as far as his numbers. I suppose one could argue that his mere presence keeps the defense pinned up and guarding against a huge breakout run. For the multimillions Johnson is making he really does need to show us something special. If the Titans could really get a running game going, there is no doubt in my mind that they would be a Super Bowl contender.

The Titans are going to be at Cleveland next weekend. The Browns are also 2 and 1. It could be quite a fight.

Who are the Racists?

Interesting that actor, Morgan Freeman, believes that Obama has increased racism in the country. I agree with Morgan. Then he goes on to say that people like me, "teaparty" types, are racist cause we want to get rid of the president.

We have to look at why Obama was elected in the first place. No matter where he goes or what he does, he is the least qualified man in the room. He has never held a real job, never hired or fired employees, never sweated over making a payroll, never worried about the cost of providing benefits for his employees, never served a day in the military........no, none of these things.

No the only reason most black people voted for him was because he was BLACK, and not even all black either. I betcha Morgan Freeman voted for him because he was black. Most liberal white people voted for the black man because of guilt. Others were hypnotized by the empty suit promising hope and change. Some were just mad at George Bush and Republicans. Colin Powell kept telling us that we needed to nominate John McCain, the perfect RINO but eminently more qualified than Obama, and then Powell turned around and voted for Obama. WHY?????? Cause he was BLACK!

I've always said that if Obama had been a white guy, he'd be shoveling shit in Louisiana right about now, if you'll allow me to steal a line from one of my favorite generals.

Of course Obama has increased racism. He and the Dimocrats have hidden behind his blackness from the very beginning. Nobody in the 2008 campaign would criticize Obama for fear of being labelled a racist. Even the Republicans today tread lightly when opposing him. Frankly I think the Republican candidates could take it to Obama a lot more forcefully, but no, we would not want to hurt any black feelings.

If we oppose Obama's socialist policies, we're racists. It couldn't possibly have anything to do that he is trying to destroy the fabric that made this country great.

So Obama was elected for one reason and one reason only.....HE WAS BLACK. Now how racist are the people that elected him? Those people are the true racists.

As for me, a hateful, racist, teaparty type, I am supporting Herman Cain. Why? He's a conservative, a businessman, he's brilliant, and I think he's the man that can get us out of this economic abyss we find ourselves in. Oh, he's black you say? Hmmmmm, I had not noticed! Now who's the racist?

By the way, Herman Cain took issue with Morgan Freeman over his comments. Good for you, Herman.

Reassessing the Republican Candidates

Well I watched the Republican debates from last Thursday night. I have thoughts. First lets talk about governor Rick Perry. You would think that Perry would have to know his weaknesses and would be prepared for the onslaught of criticism from his opponents. Alas, he seems ill prepared to me. When Romney pummels him on Social Security, Perry is like a worm in hot ashes. I agree with Perry. Social Security is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. There is no place in that great document that mandates the formation of such a program. It is also a PONZI SCHEME! Yes, no doubt about it. I don't know why Perry is so afraid to admit it. Just admit it and explain that nevertheless, Social Security is with us as it has been for over 60 years, the people want to keep it, and it will be his job as president to figure out a way to make the program viable. It is just that simple but Perry can't seem to find the words.

Also disturbing is his policy for granting in state tuition to illegal aliens. Perry accused anyone that disagreed with him on this issue of being heartless. Well, all I can say is that I would rather be heartless and protect the borders of this country than to grant freebies to illegal invaders. As far as I am concerned these people should be afforded no favors, no tuition, no healthcare benefits, no food stamps, no nothing. They need to go back to wherever they came from. If Perry is willing to grant in state tuition, what else is he willing to allow? What would he be willing to allow at the national level?

I can imagine a nightmare scenario of 2 months into a Perry presidency and suddenly he proposes a George Bush like "immigration reform". No, my friends, this is something we do not need. I also told sweet wifey that I have the same feeling about Perry that I had about Fred Thompson in 2008. I am wondering if he really has the fire in his belly, or is his heart not really in it? I see Perry soon to slide in the polls.

It is with regret that I demote Perry from his category 1 status to category 2 (I'll hold my nose and vote for him). Go HERE if you are not familiar with my categories.

Next in the parade of declining candidates is Michele Bachmann. I have already expressed my displeasure with her over her attacks on Perry and the HPV vaccine. Most disturbing is her support of the hoax that the vaccine causes mental retardation. If she wanted to hammer Perry I cannot for the life of me figure why she didn't forget the HPV thing and go after him on illegal immigration. If she will so easily support a hoax, what will be her next hoax? Man made global warming? People that shoot their mouths off before collecting all the facts scare me just a bit. I realize she is a politician and she is desperate.

She continues to slide in the polls. Her message sounds scripted and not very exciting. I am demoting her to category 2. I am very disappointed in this woman.

Let's shift gears for a minute. I did not care much for Rick Santorum at first. Frankly I don't think he has ever gotten over his loss of his senate seat in 2006 and he has spent a lot of time whining and trying to convince us he is electable. It seems though more recently he has chosen to talk about issues. I have to admit that I like what Santorum has to say. His views are conservative. I think he has the experience to lead the country. I really liked watching him make Rick Perry squirm over the immigration issue. He wasn't the least bit whiny or wimpy. I'm going to give him a boost and promote him from category 2 up to category 1.

Honestly I don't think he's got a snowball's chance of being the nominee but you just never know what might happen between now and next fall.

And that, boys and girls, brings us to the man of the hour, Herman Cain. He's been a category 1 candidate for me from the beginning and remains in this position. He's a businessman. He's a conservative. He is brilliant. I love his 9-9-9 plan. He's NOT a politician.

He's been criticized because he knows nothing about foreign policy. Being a non-politician, this is no surprise. I have every confidence that he is smart enough to figure it out and surround himself with the right people to bring him up to speed.

I'm holding fast to Herman. I was delighted to hear that he won the Florida straw poll! YEA! What does this mean? Probably nothing at this point, but it does gain him some sorely needed recognition. I am hopeful that this man will be the next president. I believe he could do great things for this country.

Remaining in category 3 are Newt, Mitt, and Huntsman, liars and RINOS along with the purely libertarian lunatics. If any of these are the candidate, I'll either vote 3rd party or I just won't vote. There will be no RINOs in my future.

FREE Medical Advice is not FREE!

Not infrequently I am asked by the general public for "medical advice". If it is someone I know fairly well I will decline their request and tell them that I am a money grubbing rich doctor and I did not get that way by giving free advice.

For others I will politely decline and refer them to their family doctor. What people do not seem to understand is that I do not have the luxury of giving free off the cuff advice. As a licensed professional if I give advice, I from that moment, have established a doctor/patient relationship with that person. This make me liable for any advice I might give. If I give someone some advice and they drop dead tomorrow, then I am responsible, whether my advice had anything to do with their dropping dead or not. Unfortunately there are plenty of hot shot lawyers out there that would try to make a case against me and the lawyer would accuse me of giving off the cuff advice and not taking a complete history and physical.

The lay person, on the other hand, has no such restriction. I sometime almost laugh out loud at absurd medical advice given by one lay person to another and I have always thought if would really be fun if ordinary people could be held legally responsible for their advice. People would learn quickly how to keep their mouths shut..

Recently I have had requests on Facebook for medical advice. I have to wonder why anyone would use Facebook to discuss their medical problems, but there are those who have this apparently insatiable desire to share every aspect of their life with the internet.

What really kills me are people who will get a prescription from their doctor and then start asking me about side effects and what to expect. I have to ask, "Why are you not discussing this with YOUR DOCTOR?"

So if I decline your medical questions, just realize that I spend 5 figures per year in insurance to protect me from the liability of your questions and the company's defense attorneys have told me not to talk to you.

Any questions?

Spreading a Hoax? What's the Attraction?

I see this sort of thing on almost a daily basis. In fact on Facebook this morning I intercepted this:

7yr old with Cancer, from Rosebush, MI ....Hi my name is Amy Bruce, I am 7yrs old and I have a large tumor on my brain and severe lung cancer. The doctors say I will die soon if this isn't fixed, and my family can't pay the bill's. The Make A Wish Foundation has agreed to donate $7 for every time this message is sent on. For those of you who send this along, I Thank You so much. But for those who don't send it, I will pray for you. Please put this as your status for an hour

This one is a hoax/chain letter that has been going around since 1999. I frequently see a variety of WARNINGS on Facebook with many copies being reposted. Just about all of these warnings are false, a hoax. Yet the people reposting them just merrily copy and paste and give no thought to the validity of the claim. These claims are actually very easy to check out. If you're in the mood to copy and paste just do this:

Highlight: 7 year old with cancer, from Rosebush, MI
Right click and copy, then paste to a Google search.

You will be presented with many different pages describing the nature of the hoax. It takes no more effort to do this than it does to blindly copy and paste the hoax to your Facebook status.

Hoax emails seem to have the same attraction. A few people pass the time sending me outrageous claims on email that they have collected from another hoax passer. They never bother to check out the validity.

I don't get it. Are a lot of people that trusting and that gullible just to take everything they see on the internet at face value? Well heck yeah. Michele Bachmann must realize this as she spreads lies about mental retardation and the HPV virus. Our friend Algore knows this too and he has made millions spreading his man made global warming hoax. Most of the United States congress would have us believe we are in debt because the rich don't pay enough taxes.......another lie and a hoax.

There's a sucker born every minute. Who said that?

DirecTV, Great Service! NOT!

Yesterday my Directv receiver/DVR just froze. I tried unplugging it and tried to make it restart. From inside came rattling and groaning sounds of a hard drive taking its dying gasps. No, the old girl was surely dead. So then I began the arduous process of calling Directv and wading through menu after menu of recorded instructions until I finally got to talk to a person.

The girl on the phone kept telling me to, "follow the instructions on the screen".

"There is no screen! It is dead! It won't give me a screen." I replied.

So she decided to give me a time for a friendly service call to our house. "We'll be out next Tuesday between noon and 4PM."

"Tuesday? Today is Wednesday. You mean I am going to have to do without for 6 days?"

"Yes, you'll have to do without that receiver."

Well, we moved the bedroom DVR down to the living room for now and just unplugged the defective unit. You'd think as much as I pay these people for this service that they would have been out before I hung up the phone. So I'm going to have to wait 6 days for some service technician to tell me that I have a busted hard drive and I'm going to need a new DVR. I seriously doubt they replace the hard drives in the units, although they might.

Just nothing like great service. Betcha they don't give me a discount on my next bill for those 6 days of downtime.

Taxing Questions

I am self employed. Today I sent in my third quarterly estimate to the US. Treasury. I have some friends who are also self employed. They tell me that they never send in quarterly estimates. They just pay their tax bill in total before April 15.

Yet they tell me they are never charged a penalty. If I am late with my estimate by a single day, the thugs rob me for another big chunk of change. Would anyone like to explain to me how this can be? Pissed off minds really want to know.

Who are the REAL Cronies?

So Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann have both accused Rick Perry of "crony capitalism" regarding the HOAX of the HPV vaccine story. In my last post I already pointed that the "mental retardation" thing was false. There is no scientific evidence whatsoever linking mental retardation to the HPV vaccine. Yet Sarah Palin jumps on the bandwagon.

As my good friend, Rush Limbaugh, pointed out yesterday, the charge of crony capitalism is serious and goes beyond just political sideswiping. It implies criminal activity by Rick Perry.

I am really beginning to think that Bachmann and Palin are the real cronies here. Palin has not declared. Is she waiting to throw her full support behind Michele Bachmann? Are there favors involved? Hmmmm? Is this just dirty politics as usual?

Michele Bachmann Acting Like a Scared Democrat!

Michele! Michele! Please don't act like a Dimocrat! In her haste to attack Texas governor, Rick Perry, she has resorted to a decades old Dimocrat tactic, VICTIMS ON PARADE!

She has made false statements regarding the HPV vaccine previously mandated by Perry, stating that the vaccine can cause mental retardation in children. Too bad there is no SCIENTIFIC proof of this whatsoever. She makes things worse by relaying an anecdote with a Florida woman:

"She told me that her little daughter took that vaccine, that injection, and she suffered from mental retardation thereafter," Bachmann said. "There is no second chance for these little girls if there is any dangerous consequences to their bodies."
How does this Florida woman KNOW that her daughter's mental retardation is a result of the vaccine? Where is the proof? Did some liberal tell her it was so? Come on, Michele, you can do better than this! You sound just like a Dimocrat!

"Rick Perry is going to push old ladies in wheelchairs off a cliff! Rick Perry is going to steal away seniors' retirement funds!"

You've opened Pandora's box, Michele. Just go ahead and use those arguments as well. She's falling in the polls and she's thrashing at the front runner. Come on, Michele, have a little class, PLEASE!

For the record, Perry has already said that mandating this vaccination through executive order was a mistake and if given another chance, he would have done things differently. That should be the end of it as far as I am concerned. Besides, there was an "opt out" from the very beginning. This whole thing was much ado about nothing.

Suddenly Obama is Worried About Ventilation?

In his efforts to spend more money we do not have in a futile attempt to create jobs, Hussein Obama has suddenly become concerned over poor ventilation in schools. Well, all I gotta say is that he's about 45 years too late.

I went to public school. The elementary school I went to was grades 1 through 8. There was no kindergarten. There was no middle school. School started the later part of August. There was no air conditioning. It was hotter than 400 hells. I remember we had these gigantic fans on stands which would blow our sweat spotted papers off our desks. An occasional wasp would fly in the open window and sting an unsuspecting student.

In the winter the school had a coal fired boiler which heated hot water for radiators. Those old radiators clattered and clanged all winter long as black stinky smoke belched from the smokestack. I always thought it was neat to take a peek in the boiler room and watch the automatic coal stoker boost up the flame.

Kids routinely got sick. On a daily basis one or two kids would puke on the floor. The janitor would come by and cover the pile with some kind of dark green powder and then come back a little later and scoop up the combo. I think a lot of the puking had to do with the lousy food served by the kitchen and nothing at all to do with the hot or cold weather. One particular teacher I remember forced her students to eat everything on their plates. It seemed she had many more pukers than normal. Finally the principal told her to cut it out.

High school was not much better. We still had no air conditioners and we still had radiators. They had just built a new cafeteria and the food was better. We actually had some vending machines in high school too.

Finally in my senior year we moved into the new high school and the old high school became the junior high. For the first time we had air conditioning. We also had black students as 1970 was the first year our schools became integrated.

I remember that some of my classmates went on to do bigger and better things. I ended up being a filthy, greedy, rich doctor as did a couple of other of my friends. A few of them are lawyers. One or two went into politics. I remember one that went to West Point. Several others pursued less prestigious careers in the military. Others became businessmen/women. Several became teachers. Many went back to the farms from where they had come. A few of them went to jail. In fact I remember one troublemaker that was shot and killed holding up a grocery store. Sadly I remember a couple that never came back from Vietnam.

So in spite of the poor ventilation, I think the lot of us probably turned out alright. Mind you that this was way before the Department of Education was created. To plagiarize a famous song by Sir Elton John,

Some of us fall by the wayside
And some of us soar to the stars
And some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with the scars

And so goes the circle of life. I have a feeling this is the way things will continue to be regardless of whether we try to spend half a trillion dollars on  imaginary problems or not.

Depending on Government - GAG!

Here a little anecdote from my friend, Rush Limbaugh, that might piss you off just a bit.
Well, if you ax me, the guy should have gotten a medal instead of a ticket.

Epidemic Ignorance

During my ham radio outing to Mt. Nebo last weekend I had the opportunity to discuss politics a little bit with my ham friends. One thing is for sure: EVERYONE THAT WAS ON THE MOUNTAIN HATES HUSSEIN OBAMA!

One of my friends in particular asked me what I thought about Republican candidates. I said that there were 3 or 4 good ones I could vote for. I told him I would not vote for Mitt Romney. He of course had no idea why. I simply pointed out that he invented Romneycare (similar to Obamacare) and supported the individual mandate. He also believes in the hoax of man made global warming. This seemed to satisfy my friend's curiosity about Romney.

My friend then asked me about the "woman" that was running. He could not think of her name. I explained that I thought Michele Bachmann was one of the "good guys". He said he did not think that America was "ready for a woman president". However, he could not deny my logic when I pointed out that America was evidently ready for a black president, in spite of the fact that the one we elected is a total disaster.

I then told him I would wholeheartedly support Herman Cain, a black man. His response was, "Who is Herman Cain? I have never heard of him."

My ham friend espouses the same conservative values as do I and yet he is completely ignorant about the field of candidates facing the disastrous Hussein Obama. It is frustrating and I just don't get it. It is not that difficult to keep yourself informed. In fact with the internet, knowledge is only a point and click away. I invited all of my friends to read RIGHT TRUTH and the GROUCH AT RIGHT TRUTH if they wanted to keep up with what was going on.

If I had hair, I think I would pull it out!

Y'all excuse me while I go listen to my Rush Limbaugh podcast.

The Grouch Assesses Republican Primary Candidates - September Edition

Just in case any of you wondered where I stand, I thought I might give you my opinion of the current list of Republican presidential candidates. I'll update this each and every month until a single Republican is selected. If you think I'm all wet, leave me a comment and try to convince me otherwise:

For my August report, CLICK HERE.

Well I watched the Republican debate on the Communist News Network (CNN) last night. First of all I'll have to say that I thought Wolf Blitzer did a pretty good job and the debate was pithy and spirited.

In the last 2 debates I have got to say that Herman Cain was the winner, hands down. It seems that no matter what the question he always has a specific answer and a plan, not just a polished political mini-speech. This man really needs to be president, but I am afraid he is just not going to catch on.....too bad.

As expected Rick Perry was picked on for calling social security a Ponzi scheme, but hell, that is exactly what it is. They also picked on Perry for "vaccinegate" and he actually apologized for this. What really bothered me about Perry was his support for in-state tuition for illegal aliens. I did not find a good excuse for his actions here but for now, I'm nervously leaving Perry in category 1.

It is with regret that I demote Ron Paul to category 3. He blamed America for the 9-11 attack. It was OUR FAULT cause we were in their Muslim lands and it was our fault because we don't adequately support the Palestinians. He doesn't seem to grasp the concept that Muslims hate us and want to kill us simply because of who we are and what we believe. This man would be dangerous for America as much as or more so than Hussein Obama. This is a crying shame because I agree with him on everything else.

I suppose Michele Bachmann held her own but she seems to be slipping in the polls. Right now she has my solid category 1 vote if she manages to fight her way to the top.

CATEGORY 1
I WILL HAPPILY VOTE FOR:

Herman Cain
Michele Bachmann
Rick Perry

CATEGORY 2
I WOULD HOLD MY NOSE AND VOTE FOR:

Rick Santorum

CATEGORY 3
IF THEY ARE IN THE GENERAL ELECTION, I'LL VOTE 3rd PARTY, YOU'RE WELCOME, PRESIDENT OBAMA:

Mitt Romney (true RINO)
Newt Gingrich (a LIAR and a RINO)
Jon Huntsman (probably should be a Dimocrat)
Gary Johnson (where was he?)
Ron Paul (too crazy for America)

There are several other minor candidates who I have omitted. If any should float to the top, I will render a judgement upon them.

Just for fun I'm watching Sarah Palin, Allen West, Chris Christie, and John Bolton as possibles. If any of these later declare, I will certainly give you a grouchified opinion.

As with the August report, the CAT 3 candidates all said a bunch of good sounding things. In fact if you did not know any better, you might think Romney or Gingrich or Huntsman might make great candidates. The problem is that a RINO is a RINO and a LIAR is a LIAR. These people have their fingers in the wind and will say pretty much anything that will get them a vote.

There you go. The GROUCH has spoken. If you don't like my selections, let's hear about it!

Home at Last

Well the GROUCH has finally come down from the mountain and returned home. I had a great time on Mt. Nebo with my ham radio friends but it sure was good to see sweet Wifey and sweet puppy. They were both wagging their tails.

Cartoons from Mt. NEBO!

Here are a few cartoons submitted by the old geezer Dan Sullivan, K4SDX. They might cause a smile or two.

We Remember

All the hams on top of Mt. Nebo this morning want to let you know that we remember the act of war perpetrated on our country 10 years ago today. NEVER FORGET!

Sex Offender on Mt. Nebo

It is with regret that I must report the presence of a sex offender. Lance, N4GMT, was discovered molesting his teddy bear last night while the poor bear slept. We have now labeled Lance a TEDOPHILE!
